I had my first day of Rugby preseason practice today and.....wow. This sport is amazing. It combines the physical demands of soccer and football, and multiplies the manliness X10. It's wierd though, you really dont hear much about it....at least in the bay area. But it turns out that there is a team in the bay area that practices in pleasanton! So, im on this team now(there isnt really any cuts, just strings), and since its my 1st year im probably gonna end up on second string. But I was wondering if anyone here has ever played it? Any tips on gear or tips for playing the game well?
I've always wanted to learn and play Rugby! I bought a rugby ball from Dicks hoping since I had a ball maybe my friends would want to learn too. Well it collects dust now. :( No one wants to learn anything new.

There are many "Bay area's." where are you located?
I used to play rugby at my old sleepaway camp. most of our counselors were from England, so I knew it was like to be hurting. I was only like 15 playing with 18-21 year old actual rugby guys. I held my own, but never had a chance against them. only when they played american football, was I able to out do them. I would play on the rugby team at my college (which just so happens to be the best in New York state, as of now) but I just have too many things to worry about.
