I don't really ever read books and I have a short attention span with books I do read. I am looking for a really good fiction novel of some sort. If it doesnt grab me in the first few chapters I will never finish it, that's just how I am. Futuristic and present time settings are generally better then swords and sorcery fantasy books.

Any suggestions?

Anything by Dan Brown is great. Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code, Deception point are all great, present day books.

I'm actually looking for a good book too. I'm reading A Scanner Darkly which is good, but I need something else. Preferably present-day setting, something compelling, not necessarily war.

I suggest Robert A. Heinlein's "Stranger in a strange land"

Terry Goodkind Sword of Truth series. Start off with Wizards First Rule. It'll grab you and take you for a ride you won't forget.

Any Michael Moorcock books (Elric, Count Brass, Hawkmoon, Eternal Champion). I especially liked the Hawkmoon books.
