Here goes.
I have enough money on the side to finish my driving lessons and eat. So now the spending begins.
I have two choices right now.
1. The wii. (red steel *drools*)
2. The ipod either 20 or 40 gigs (I already have an iriver but it's messing up half of the time... crashing and freezing... or else it doesn't wanna accept new songs and freezes while synching and I have to format it.)
The PS3 is a bit too expensive and the Xbox 360 looks nice but again a bit too expensive for my taste.
I already got myself a 32" lcd flat panel TV on the way thanks to my job... so my game will look nice...
I'm sort of unsure about the Wii thought. I haven't seen the graphics... the games available... there's Red steel that interests me and COD3... otherwise I don't know what coming for the console itself...
Gah I hate taking financial decisions. Had I left for the army like I was supposed to... I'd be worrying about doing pushups... not what I want to spend on.

I wouldnt buy a Wii to be honest. I see it as just a gimmick, something like the Eye toy. Except in the Wii, its your only controller. Plus the graphics are pretty terrible, and launch games are getting lousy reviews. And I wouldnt bother with an iPod, I have gone through 2 in the last year.

I can't comment on the Wii, but what the hell did you do to your fucking iPod.
I've thrown mine at a wall and it works just as good as it did when I bought it.
But apple doesn't make a 20 or 40 GB iPod any more.
The new ones are out, and are 30 and 80GB. They are also much better suited to playing videos. The screen is 60% brighter, battery life is greatly improved (up to 20 hours or 6 and a half of video), seamless playback for nice albums like DSotM, the new earbuds kick ass (for earbuds), and a nice sleek and slim design.
I wish I had waited longer to buy my iPod.
Fuck I wish I had waited for the core 2 duo MBP.
I love apple.

The more I ask people around me the more I'm thinking of keeping the money and *GASP* saving it!

Hey inf, it is quite possible that apple has improved, but the click wheel generation of ipods (pre-color) are complete fucking shit. Seriously, if I keep it in my pocket by the end of the day the moving parts are fucking shot and I have to go exchange it, I've literally gone through 8 of these in 2 years.
Anyway, Gio to be honest the wii is just a gimmick from what I've seen and heard from friends. The 360 is actually more than just a fucking sweet gaming system, it is wirelessly connect to my pc giving me access to my entire library of movies, music, porn, etc, thus giving me the ability to play Asia Carrera: Max Hardcore on my big screen in surround sound. As well as the Halo series, Gears of War, Saints row, and every other sweet, sweet game on it. I love my 360.

You mean the ones that they've totally stopped making.
Thats like saying all new macs are bad because the old power pc macs were.

Like I said, "quite possible that apple has improved" :)
None the less, they fucked up, and they can't fix that in my mind so I'm off apple for good :D

Yeah, I can't stand the hype over the "WeeWee".
Eventually I'll be getting a PS3 (but not until there is a decent supply in the stores and whatever launch bugs are worked out), and I'd also like to have a 360, just for stuff like Gears of War and some of the other pretty sweet 360 titles.
Of course, I'd much rather a new PC first. But with this car coming, all that is going to have to wait for a while. :p

I guess it comes out this weekend.... The people started lining up on monday, at my local Walmart. No one is doing pre-orders in my area, except for Walmart who is using their power to get more out of it. The only way you can pre-order the ps3 at the Walmart, is if you buy the whole package, which includes 4 games chosen by them. The package is like $1100.

The wii is a good idea. There is a lot of fun that could be ad with a wii. Not $250 worth of fun though. The problem with the wii mainly is its controller. It is excellent for mini games, or experimental games. It does not work as a conventional controller. I see the entire Wii system going the way of The PS2's EyeToy. Fun, yet the gimmickness wears of quickly.

The ps3 is going to suck. From what I've heard, the games bind to the first console they are played on (don't know how they are going to do renting anymore), and it's priced so fucking high it's ridiculous. Sure it may be the shit graphically, but it's way too much damn money. I also heard (may be a rumor) that the games are gonna be like 80 or 100 bucks.
The wii is also gonna suck. I echo everyone else's statements.
The 360 is good and by far the best of the 3. Good games, good system, "relatively" affordable. I'd get that if you have gaming in mind.
I don't know how interested you are in music. I personally need a new ipod, since my 6 gig mini is way beyond filled up. I'd get the ipod if you are, since it's definitely something I use a lot.
Or you could save it/blow it on hookers and ice cream.

The PS3 won't suck for people who actually have a job...

Really? I know I wouldn't want to pour over a grand into another game system, job or not, especially since there are other options out there that are much cheaper.
Guess you have your priorities. I'll stick with the hookers and ice cream myself.

Kikin, get with the times. The rumour of the PS3 binding to games is sooo old. SOny has denied it, its not true.
PS. Games are retailing for $60 canadian, thats nowhere near $100 american. Plus, there were Xbox games that did retail for $100+, though they did include peripherals.

Shrug, guess I'm outdated then. I don't really follow that much gaming news anymore, I just remember hearing that somewhere and immediately thinking how incredibly dumb it was.
I'll stand by the 360 over the ps3 though.
PS3 basic version is 550 with tax, the premium is 675 with tax. Sony is trying to push another tech into the market, Blu-ray. (For those that do not know, Sony has backed Beta and mini-disc, both utter failures.) Games run 60-130 US , and controllers are 60 US. Also, the unit does not ship with the HDMI cable, instead you just get a regular composite video cable.
The Wii with tax is 253 US, ships with Wii sports (five games), as well as one Nunchuck controller and one regular controller. Controllers run 50 US, and you can also use gamecube controllers if you want.
So, ya....
EDIT: Wii has SSB Brawl, Twilight Princess, COD3, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii

So... sony is trying to introduce Blu-Ray (which other major companies are seriously considering btw) and nintendo is brining basically nothing new to the table.

Sounds to me like Nintendo is continuing to produce high quality first party games, as well as solid 3rd party ones on an improved console. And for a lot less. I'll take that any day over some blue ray shit.
Granted I'm probably not going to be buying any of them, so it doesn't really matter to me.
It isn't about the Blu-ray, my point was the massive difference in price. I just don't see a reason to put money into a system that it's parent company doesn't even put faith into. I am of course referring to mere 270,000 units that were sent for the launch, the gamestop by my campus got two units. It is just needlessly expensive. If I bought the premium PS3, and extra controller, and five games I'm already at 1120 dollars before tax (Four Wii's). For that you could build a far superior computer.
On the funny side:

Sony isnt putting faith into the PS3? What makes you beleive this? IF you know anything at all about sony, you would know that they are in a really awful position right now, and that the PS3 is one of their last possible chances at making a comeback. To me, seeing sony put their entire company into a single video game system shows that they have a very large ammount of faith in the system.

Wii sucks. The novelty will wear off quite quickly.
Whats the difference between Red steel and me playing a FPS on my PC with a wireless mouse?
PS3 is damn hella expensive and you pretty much get the same experience with the xbox 360, but at a cheaper pice.
EDIT: Red Steel is getting shit reviews.

Actually, ps3 has a "meh" level of release games out with it atm, not much to look forward to from what I can see either. Plus its like over 750$ to the the system, the hdmi cord, and another controller, assuming you get premium of course.

To get back on track real fast, for Giovanni, just don't spend that extra money. Save it.. put it in a bank account.

Well my credit limit just got upped.
So I'm buying the Wii. Haha. I'll get it just for the hell of it... at worse, I'll sell it off to my cousin. He's a little brat who's parents won't buy anything for full price.

Giovanni

Because my computer's shit and I'd have to replace it entirely.
Wich means some odd 3 grand.
Wich means I'd have to sacrifice the TV and the bed I'm getting. The TV runs about 1400$ with the protections and the matress, etc. is about another 1400$ maybe 1500$... (both are financed for a year but still...)
So I'll check really.
I'm getting ready to move out so I also need a couch and some other stuff. So when I do move I'll be good and dandy...
I also need a car so... yeah...
I'm going to have about 100$ of payments for the matresses... ANNNNNNNNNyyyyyyyyways! The bright thing would be to keep the money in wich case I'll probly wind up doing just that.
Right now I want it but I won't get it until a week or so... plenty of time to change my mind.

yeah, if I got a couple hours.
I'd just like to point out that XP was released in '01 and therefore had little to no beta testing. Hence it's faults when it was first released.
Vista on the other hand has been beta tested for a long ass time now. My friend was a beta tester and said he was upset when he had to go back to using XP because it now looks like shit to him. But now he'll be getting a free copy of Vista for beta testing it.
