So I am speccing out a new PC for (actually 2, one for Jen and one for me :p ) here is a link:
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=3589572
Comments? I have not placed a video card in the setup - and some of the other components I already have so I can transfer one from another.
Reccomendations on Video Cards?
Questions, Comments, Flames?

With out a budget, pricing a computer out is hard.
Asus Mobo's all the way imo here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Category=20&N=2000200280+50001315+107171850&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=280&Manufactory=1315) for the 965 boards, the 975x chipset works too. And TBH I wouldn't bother with crossfire boards, unless you plan on waiting and buying two of the new ATi/AMD DX10 top-of-the-line cards come next spring.
If you want to be crazy and do SLi with Nvidia DX10 cards, look no further than here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131073) if you go crazy, get 4 Hard disks and do a raid 5 with that.
for graphics go Nvidia 8800 it's the only thing that supports DX10.
You don't really need to bother with different cooling as the C2Ds are nice and cool, but if you want to, go copper with a big, slow fan for quiet

I have to agree with Rbstr and OMA.
ASUS is the best, we've had 5 ASUS boards and not a single problem (other than needing firmware for Windows to see the SATA RAID). :D
Crossfire is a big no-no, so definately SLI for more power.
And you should at least wait for DX10 and Vista.

I am just speccing probably for buy earlier next year. There are several DX10 cards out now on newegg:

Really the only reason I picked that board were the performance reviews it got over on tomshardware:

I agree with you guys, just about every board I have ever got has been an ASUS. As for budget probably no more than 1300$ since.. I'd be buying 2
Not looking to do SLI at all - just single cards.

Im using a Geforce 7600GT as a place holder until some solid mid-range DX10 cards come out, so if your up to ideas. Thats what ill be doing, until I see DX10 cards around $250 or so.
btw; Here are the specs on it, should be here in a couple weeks. Saved quite a bit of money going through cyberpowerpc instead of building it.
Gigabyte M55SLI-S4 nForce 4 SLI Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+
1GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR800 (PC 6400)
Geforce 7600 GT 256mb of Video RAM (GDDR-3)
250GB SATA-II 3.0gb/s 8mb Cache 7200RPM HD
500w PSU

If you have no budget, get the 680i Motherboard, and pair it with dual 8800GTX's. If you want to cut back a bit, just go with on 8800 :p. But I really do think going with a 680i motherboard from nVidia is the way to go, they support c2d, and SLi. I think Hamma still wants to play games and use most of the programs out.

Just keep in mind, just because the 8800 is the only DX10 compatible video card NOW, doesn't mean it'll be the only one compatible when DX10 rolls out.

Piano cases dont cool so well, but look nice.
Dont waste your time with that cooler, coolermaster sucks.
And the DFI 975x board is pretty sweet from what I've read, but its not all pretty and such and Im partial to their boards, as in, its all I use now.
Zalman coolers are nice and quiet, and work well, they have a few different models. The thermalright SI-128 is what I;d go for personally.
As for case, its all a matter of preference.
I'll do up a custom one for you haha.

I've got a hard disk deal for you, but it's gonna end tonight!
400gb Perpendicular recording disk for 119/129(PATA/SATA)
quite a kick ass drive.

I think I saw a review for that in MaximumPC. They really liked it, and looking at the benchmarks, it does look like a really good drive.
