Phantomgate

Yeah I'm having a hard time figuring out a new online name. I have Phantomgate but I mean come on!! What was I thinking? There's too many people that have Phantom in their name it just doesn't seem original for me. I'm going to finally figure out a cool clever online name that I will use for whatever I need.

Can you guys help me with some ideas? I already have some in mind but I'll wait to see what you guys have.

Just please throw out words.

Horsedick.

Nah I'm kidding, just take something you like (sports team, game, band or w/e) and add something personal to it.

Or do what I did, just take two words and jam em together for the hell of it. Although this did come from an inside joke so you could use that too.

fuck with your real life name a bit.

Goofy speelings of something or perhaps a short phrase.

Just don't make one with only consonants. That's gay.

That's why I love Strygun... I've never seen another one out there. Totally unique.

(Props to ObnoxiousFrog...flashing back to the old school days here!)

hehe it's hard to think of a good name.

When I think up names for Alt's in games I usually go to some form of name generator.

Im thinking of getting a new name. MagMower is just a pain anymore. Its unique, but its not a timeless name. Plus, its a verb, not a real name. The real problem with switching my name is that my identity must change everywhere, from gmail, forums, xfire, xboxlive, games. Argh.

Electrofreak

I originally created my name to indicate that I'm an electronics nut. I buy every neat little gizmo I can get my hands on and I love modding and programming computers.

Not the most OMGKEWL name but at least its pretty unique. I haven't seen any other Electrofreaks running around. I have seen a couple people claim the handle on some websites, but I suspect they're just really into Electronica :p

Heavygain

Well, I recently started dropping the "gain" off of Heavygain. Heavygain is completely original and for some reason it just keeps picking up more meaning. For instance when I first came up with it it was actually for my application to my first real clan (CDL), since then it picked up meaning in basically everything that I hold dear as hobbies. Gain = Guitar, Mic gain, Sound in general, Heavy = Heavy weapons, Heavy armor (other games). Heavygain is comming up on its fourth anniversary, woot woot?

The way I see it, think of some names, keep them in mind for a couple of days, the one that doesn't seem stupid at that point is a keeper :)

Look at the nearest two household objects, and put their names together, and huzzah! I'm gonna do it right now.

Printerlamp
Deskfridge
Papercan
K-Yspeaker

Ok, maybe not so much. Alternatively you could just hit a bunch of random keys on your keyboard until you see a nice set of letters that actually makes a sound. Thats how I got my name. It doesnt even mean anything.

EDIT: Antother variation of the common household object thing would be to combine "action" words with the common object. "action" words being things like:

Extreme
Death
Killer
Explosion
Slayer
Exterminator
Speed
etc.. (basically anything that is cliche)

now combine with common household object for humorous effect! Observe:

ExplosiveDeodorant
Coathangerslayer
Deathshelf
TexMexterminator
Speedscissor

Mine was the name of an old small-time band in Ohio in the late 70's. Used to play on all my dad's games, and he used this nick....when I started to play my own games I just stuck with it.

You could try finding a name in a different language, like "Owner" in dutch or something. My friend did that and found something like "The Hunter" in Noreigic (Whatever), and it came out "Draebs"

What ever you pick, please, PLEASE don't pick something in another language, or ancient term that means something "cool". I'm honestly sick of hearing people say My name means blah in ____" usually when they say, "Oh it's greek for-" I Disconnect.

Lucky for me, I have a sweet nickname.

Though I am known on a few other websites as Pawtucket_Pat.

I Hate Pants
2006-12-13, 11:33 AM
Yeah, I stopped using "I hate pants" about a year ago because people thought I was gay or something with this nickname.

Now I pretty much use "Diesel Power" as my new nickname. I usually just get inspired by things I see.

Oh yeah and sometimes "Bojaxs". I got that one from an old episode of SCTV.
