Commonly known as MEO has been on the table for quite some time and has suddenly popped back up in my mind recently. So I checked up on it and it seems to have done alot of progress in the last year or so.

I don't know about you, but it might just wind up to be a hit... I'm a big fan of the tolkien universe so hopefully...

I have been following it since it was called MEO. Its LOTRO now, just so ya know ;). But it looks like it could be some fun. I have been applying for the Beta, but I never seem to get in, guess I will have to wait for it to release :(

If I were in the beta I would say it's pretty fun :p

Nice. I was reticent to try another turbine game what with the fiasco DDO was, but now I'm a bit less tempted to stay away from it like it was plague... of course my computer will eventually have to be upgraded in order to run it in a good way, but it's not out till spring I'm guessing so there's no real rush.

I have high hopes for the game... No real visible magic and they differ from the standard hit points/mana system...

Looks cool.

A shitload of extra things to to add to the immersion besides the typical stuff you see in most mmo's.

Get Conan instead when it comes out.

LOTRO is basically WoW without the PvP.

LOTR isn't bad, but I'm still playing WoW.

No it isn't. And it has BG type PVP.

I'm tired of everyone comparing everything coming up with WoW. You know - not eveyrone wants wow. :p

Indeed there's a reason I left WoW and that reason is because it was grinding and no immersion. Hopefully this one will grab my attention for more then a few months...

WoW is hardly grinding compared to other prominent MMO's I have played, I play casually in any game and I have seen some massive grinding required for other games at the casual level. If your play-style makes WoW a grinding game, it is going to be hard to find any MMO that isn't.

Lineage II is a grind...Anarchy Online is a grind...WoW levels you pretty damn fast. You can get 60/70 in less than a month. AO you would be lucky to get 100 (out of 220)...L2...forget it, the entire game is designed to be a grind even at the code level.

Ya but then you ahve to grind gold and rep to do anything else. hehe

Grind Gold, Grind Reputation, Grind Honor etc etc etc

That is if you want to have all the good stuff, if you are playing casual you don't have to grind everything. If you want to be at the top of your game? Have fun grinding. :p If you dont want to do that you are gonna get killed by 8 year olds who grind 24/7 that's hardly fun to me. Having to many people in WoW is almost as bad as having to few in an mmo.

Bitching about grinding is flat out stupid. Technically, everything is a grind in any game you play, there is no getting around it. Just some games are shorter.

So all this time Pong has been fooling me? All this time I was grinding and didn't know it? Pong, my best friend since forever and it's been lying to me?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's not how long a grind is that turns me off...its how fun it is doing it...if Im having nonstop adventure and it isnt just the same thing over and over and over and still more yet to come (AO)...then its fine.

As for WoW, the rep grind is far shorter now...I get Honored questing long before I even leave the noob area (ie Durotar/Elwynn/etc)

Yea just the fact that if you want to be at the top of your game you have to have absolutly no life and run instances all the time.

Sounds like a blast to me. :p

I'm proud to say that I played WoW for a year and a half and NEVER got a character past 45. I'm so casual the game couldn't handle it. (Maybe not quite that casual, but overall I never played a prolonged session for any one character.) The only serious grinding I ever did was for my mount, and that consisted of fishing for those transforming fish, and selling them at ridiculous prices on the AH.

Looks a lil too much like WoW, graphic wise and gameplay wise so i think Ill pass, WoW never appealed to me and if anything I always thought it was a joke of a game but eh

And compared to other games? There are mmo's where you can be at the top of your game and not grind?

The graphics on lotr are nothing like wow :o

WoW's popularity is its curse in my opinion.

It's graphics are to cartoony for my tastes :p I wish I had the year of my life I wasted in that game back :(

Yeah Im not a fan of the cartoon look whatso ever, Maybe I didnt look close enough but LotR looked a bit like it too but maybe Im wrong, I hope so. I LOVEEEEE LotR and own about 15 different books about it so If this game was a big sucess then Id be thrilled.
