Looking for suggestions, comments or flames on my new wishlist rig which should be coming up in the next month or so...

I put an 8800 on there just for the heck of it - the prices have been dropping recently. What do you guys think?

I say niffty!
But:
Get a sound card, EAX is soooo worth it.
Get a different mobo, you don't need 2x PCIe 16x slots

Yea I was also debating an ASUS board.
Any preference on a SC?

You seem to be missing the crude oil cooling, & polyphonic sound.
Seriously though if you can afford it buy a power supply that lets you decide what cables you want plugged in.

Do some research and make sure there is room for the 8800 in your case.

Don't see how the 8800 would not fit - all it does is take up 2 expansion slots?
The CPU cooler though..

Well my gx2 takes up three slots with the 680i board. Two on the actual board and then the top most pci slot on the case cant be used.

As always I like ASUS mobo's, they've never done me anything but good. This one would be my choice (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131070)
Modular PSU's are awesome, I like mine alot.
The 8800 will fit way better than a GX2, that's got two fricking cores onboard, and thusly is HUGE. If you've got the budget the DX10card is going to give you a bit more longevity, so I think it's worth it.
As far as sound cards, the Creative X-fi stuff is apperantly living close to the hype, but I haven't follwed it. I've got an audigy 2zs that's been great.

of course your speaker system comes into play when buying a high end sound card. :P

I hate gigabyte motherboards with a passion, and I refuse to buy any power supply that isnt PPC&C, Theres no reason not to spend the extra cash on them, you can not get anything better.
