Extraordinary Occurences

Well, in this game, lots of unexpected and surprising things can happen. I was hoping we could talk about some of them.

While I was playing as the VS, I joined a squad of 3. We were going to meet up with some other people prepaing for a mass attack on Ghanon. Thee of us were in an Aurora, and our fourth was driving an AMS. We pulled over at a gun tower en route to get better equipment and wait for him. We didn't even realize it, but in an instant, a New Conglomerate squad arrived and almost killed the AMS driver. So, now four of us ae trapped inside this base trying to fend off at least 6 well armed men, including 3 maxes. Well, I actually dropped two of them, and we were able to holdthe base. However, we soon left, realizing that werelucky it was only 6 men and not 20, and thatthe four of us could not hope to hold thebase alone.

So, what amazing expereinces have you had or seen?

A legend in our outfit came back, and the first night he played when he got back we all (15 of us) dropped on a tower with our mossies, and he was gonna set the EMP off. Instead of EMPing the tower, he OS's us, and two enemies. Total deaths: 17 Result: Hysterical laughter on vent, and swearing he did it on purpose.

Back in the day of the old Planetside... when it used to not suck I was with the old Ahriman corps outfit. We used to do a bunch of single squad take-overs. Entire zerg squads could not advance and yet one galaxy drop for us and boom we were inside and hack after a kill streak of about 30-40 people? And that my friends was when the vanu sucked ass...

Not much. But why did you pull over to a tower to get equipment when you had an ams?

I was cloaking, on a hill.

I was also eating a hot pocket. Out of no where a skeeter bails on me.
He has a Jackhammer (in secondary mode I found out), and blows me away.

He proceeds to stand there spamming his macro, which I personally hate extremely.

One time I bailed over an enemy-held base. My loadout was mostly grenades. But instead of falling to the base roof, I got stuck on some invisible particle directly over a door...about 2000 feet up. So I'm WAY up there, and I'm not falling. Enemy Zerglings are outside waiting for the base to finish hacking, and they're out there, screwing around, griefing each other and every other kind of standard jackassery. So I start plopping jammers. The enemy minefield I set off waylays two Vanguards and at least 10 people. They're all freaking out running around, looking for a cloaker. Sending me tells of what a n00b I am. I respond by chucking plasma nades all over the largest piles of infantry, killing several more. By now there's mosqs flitting around the base, looking for me. Darklight equipped all round no doubt. I throw almost all my remaining grenades, and two "veteran" (read: obnoxiously arrogant) players I recognize accusing me of hacking. I waste no time giving the standard reply they might give (say it with me): "Hey, it's not my fault you suck." Almost 10 minutes pass before I'm finally found. Not by the enemy team, mind you, but by my OWN side...Some moron in a reaver, pushes right up next to me, saying "hey, how are j00 DOING that OMGWTFBBQ LOLROTFLMAO!?", or some comparable idiocy. He bumps me off the magical spot (which I never again found, btw), and I fall upon the tender mercies of the opposing team that is left after the hack, and cared enough to still look for me.

Back when Galaxies used to be full...long time ago...I ran across one trying to land and it was smoking in places it shouldnt...I had no idea how many people were on it till I blew it up with one shot of my Punisher's Rocket...my best kill ever, even had a Lightning aboard.

I got mad tells from that. Shortly after I realized how silly the Punisher is as a primary weapon in the vast majority of situations.

well i was defending a base with about 50 freinds and were doin pretty well considereing tha enemy had about twice our number but as we see the vs guys fallin back we see 6 libs and 3 gals comein overhead after 30 mins of dodgin bomb and takin cover the guy that fellback started 2 move in and the 3 gals droped there guys it was a mad melee for about 15 mins we killed at least half of em before we got draged down i saw tha weirdist thing in tha melee 5 grunts stabin a max AND THEY ONE!

Few weeks ago, after the dayshift left, we had about 15 Vanu to defend a tech plant on Hossin. The NC had nearly 30-35 - I didn't expect it to last very long. However, under assault from full gal drops, MAX crashes, armor running through the CY, cloakers hacking the base, generator going down every few minutes, we still managed to fend them off. For 10 hours. The generator and spawn tubes went down at the same time twice in a row, the enemy hacked the base both times, and both times we had no AMS and were forced to run from a tower 10 miles away, and both times we resecured & repaired everything.

Eventually, when the zerg came on, and the people that were defending it left (with the exception of me), we lost the base.

Sobekus, I remember those days, and more and more lately Galaxies are getting filled up. There may not be as many people as there were, but the people still here are getting better at the game.
