how many people per a server? because i keep seeing so many different numbers: 5000,3000,2000,3500. it would be nice if the number was 5000.

However main are on it. Some servers will have more, some will have less. At peak time US servers for DAoC have 1000-3500 people on a server, so a guess of 1,000-5,000 seems good to me.

Its around 3000, I don't believe they have a solid amount yet. That is what mass external beta is for.

I gota question, with roughfly 3000 per server an all, thats whole lota shit runnin round, would you think that would cause alittle lag for 56k modem? If no, why? Is it that only the ppl runnin around the continent you are on will cuase minor or alota lag?

The most lag you will get will come from how many characters your computer will have to render at once, which is a big RAM and vid card hit.

Ping lag will be constant, and universal, and unlikely to change much when there are lots of chars on screen.

Who know, With the rate that technology is improving, even if it started at 3,000 we could probably have it to ten in the next year or so

I thought I rememberd SJ say something about a short load time when you enter a new continent, so large battles on other continents should have no effect on your computer.

Indeed, continents are seperate from eachother heh, you have to load it before you can enter it.

Just cause it can support 56k, doesn't mean it's a good thing. I could support myself on hot coals, but who wants that kind of SLOW agonizing pain?

I don't think 56k modems will have that much of an issue, especially since servers are location based.

And yes you load a continent on switch over, but I am pretty sure that doesn't include pre-rendering all the characters on the continent.

Hmm I disagree, 56k is gonna be laggy, even if the servers are location based. Good thing they are cutting down lag issues without cutting down the game. poor SWG fans:lol:

I'm gonna get a shitload of ram. Oh wow i saw a gforce3 for 80 bucks!

Nah, the MMO world is all based on how good your netcode is.

Ultima Online had pretty poor netcode, and even then a 56k could play fairly well on the servers in the time zone.

This isn't identical to FPS experiences, keep it in mind.

I wont play as great as a DSl or cable player I know that. But on T2 most the servers (definatly not Houston Vehicles) I round off my ping to 200-500, which is what I play with and I can live with.......course main times I do lag is when theres more than 5 vehicles floating around, usually bombers tend to take lag..........but that doesn't happen on that sever........hmmm.........

But the dude said 56 will work, he didn't say how good but he said it is compatible. I may lag way too much now and then, but I can live with it.;)
