The first 50 people who had really fast connections, recieved the game in an email. When open beta comes out i am without a clue.

They're reopening the sign up soon enough, you'll see lots of stuff. Remeber you have to be 18 to sign up for beta.

I'm assuming there's no age requirement for mass external beta, since there most probably won't be an NDA, since the game is most probably already being printed, no features will change, and they're a week from release.

I am not semi-smart. With my schedule, assuming all A+s, I can get a max of 4.39. 4.39-4.07 is .32. That's all I can improve. Heck, just improving Spanish (B+) and World History (B+) get sme a 4.37.

damn over acheiver kids at easy schools. I could get a really good grade if i wanted to, but i don't take weighted PE and weighted study halls. Sheesh. You guys have it easy

That is unweighted. I have no Study Hall, and PE weighted is .5 credit. And my school is hellishly hard, Students report a .5-.8 GPA boost when moving to a different school.

Am i the only stupid person here,last class for an A was gym and the highest grade after that was a B and then a C and then a hella alot of Fs and Ds.i havent had over a 2.0 since back in 5th grade lol prolly nothing to brag about but atill its funny

Being on CD is a bit of a joke, every beta Ive been in has had downloadable clients - right up to AO and Shadowbane, which was a cool couple of gig or so of downloading...

Twenty thoousand rabid slavering fans downloading a three gigabyte (guess) beta at the same time can put quite a stress on a server.

By email....
I can imagne a couple of "could not deliver email"'s, there is no way the game was sent by mail. I believe most ISP's allows for mails to be up to 10 mb (mine allows up to about 3 mb). Imagne what i would be like for an ISP to have 100.000clients*200mb on their server, and it would be even worse when people wanna check their mail...
They proberly have recieved a user/pass (by email) to a FTP or something like that.

I higly doubt that the game will be three gigabytes. Thats at least 5 CD's...
When was the last time you saw a game of that size?
PS might be big but I dont think we'll see anything beond 2 gigs, and my guess is something between 1 and 1,5 gigs. Maybe even smaller.

Yeah, it's 3 CDs. If they are filled and compressed, then when uncompressed and installed it could easily reach 3 gigs. Not to mention all the patches/expansions that will come out eventually.

Anyway they of cause wouldn't download an uncompressed version...
If it's 3 CDs it'll proberly be a download just under 2 gigs I guess..

Actually, Beta cd's are a little less organized, and are kinda hemmed together, so there is a good chance that there will be 3-5 beta cds.

I would think they will launch external beta not unlike E&B. The cost of producing the 30- to 50,000 CD's for a 10,000 person beta then publishing the final product just doesnt seem cost effective.

It's not like Sony is poor or anything. I'm sure they can afford to mass produce beta cds and mail them out and it would still probably be cheaper than putting up a server for everyone to dl it. The bandwidth needed to dl this game for that many people is insane.

Hopefully they can tweak the engine so that 512 megs of RAM won't be the MINIMUM requirement. Hot damn... I better upgrade to a gig just to be on the safe side.
