I was comparing some videocards so I could find out which one was best but affordable. I'm thinking about getting the Radeon 9500 Pro after the GeForceFX and the Radeon 9900 (9800, whatever its called) come out, assuming the price will drop somewhat. I knew beforehand that the Raden 9500 and 9700 needed some power supply, and apparently it needs 300 watts. Does this mean the PC needs to be runnng on at least 300W, or does the card itself need 300W?

I thought it was 350 (System powersupply). Anywhoo, you want atleast 350 - I'd say 400. I ran mine for about a month on a 250 with no big problems tho. The vid card just plugs in the power wire's that run your other devices like hd and cd rom.

Cool, thanks a lot.

Heh, I'm adding this a long time after I wrote the origonal post, but should I get an extra fan for this, or is it capable of keeping itself cool?

a tip, don't ever share the extra 4pin powercable thats needed to supply your radeon card, theres no need to share it and it can cause some errors. It dosn't cause problems for everyone but why risk it when you don't have to.

^^^ I tried that myself, but I have 5 case fans, so everyone on my 4pins is used. (Actually I might have 1 left).
