afaik all skins, decals etc. will be premade and will not custemizeable. If they would be you would have got to download tons of new gfx everytime before you could login into the game.

Thats not what im asking. Im asking if you can change your CLIENT-SIDE skins. Almost like skin cheats...

We won't know that for sure before we didn't know more about how the software work. If there is no autopatcher, that checks all the files of your planetside software and updates them automaticaly if there is a file with another file-size or -date it should have, than there will be a possibility to change the skins pf you planetside installation. But i hope it will not be possible so that there is a chance to stop cheating in such games :P

Changing the skins for yourself? So everyone is super bright? Or stealth isnt invis? Yeah right.

Soo, you're saying people would edit their skins so that the enemy could distinguish them more easily or that they would make it so their stealth suits wouldn't work? kthxdirl
Sigh lemme clear this up:
Server skins: Everyone can see your skin, you all more or less have the same skin
Client-Side Skins: You're the only one who can see it, thus being able to edit anything from an enemy to bright pink (really stands out against a green background) to an invisible enemy with cloak on being purely visible
Just like in Counter-Strike

Then they should adjust it so that you can edit only how you see your skin.

Skins = Cheating
I highly doubt that PS will be skinnable. If it is, I will be very surprised.

You can rest assured anything that could be used to give one player the advantage over another won't be part of the game, I think custom skins are out ;)

Unfortunately there are almost always ways around the anti-skin cheating coding. :(

Skinning ruins games.

Neither is Treize, or X. Theo nly devs are listed on the site. Also, they put PS after their names. Im pretty sure they get angry if someone who isnt a dev is considered one, since it belittles what they do. I know i would be pissed

Any dev's on this board have a fancy title like "Planetside Tester" or "Planetside Dev"
there are a couple ;)

k simply put...
you will NOT be able to modify skins, weapons, vehicles, terrain, objects, buildings, ANYTHING. To do so you would have to go to the HQ where the servers are run, open the files on the server, and modify them there. 90% (at least) of the game's content will be SERVER SIDE (meaning it isn't a file on your computer, rather a file on the server that sends you the necessary files while playing) I've played plenty MMOGs and none have had clientside textures. Asherons call for example, you can hack up its .dat file and you'll get a number of things, such as item icons, but you won't get clothing skins, player skins, etc. So no need to worry, even though I haven't heard directly from anyone that there will be no client side texture files, its safe to say I can bet my life on the fact that there won't be :p

I wonder if the devs would put them there as a joke, just so we could track you down and kill you?
