If You're Happy And You Know It - Bomb Iraq
If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are frisky,
Pakistan is looking shifty,
North Korea is too risky,
Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq.
If we think that someone's dissed us, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections,
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

It's pre-emptive non-aggression, bomb Iraq.
To prevent this mass destruction, bomb Iraq.
They've got weapons we can't see,
And that's all the proof we need,
If they're not there, they must be,
Bomb Iraq.

If you never were elected, bomb Iraq.
If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq.
If you think Saddam's gone mad,
With the weapons that he had,
And he tried to kill your dad,
Bomb Iraq.

If corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq.
If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq.
If your politics are sleazy,
And hiding that ain't easy,
And your manhood's getting queasy,
Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq.
For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq.
Disagree? We'll call it treason,
Let's make war not love this season,
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq

That's about the stupidest thing I've ever heard, actually taking the time to worry with another country's politicians. Don't tell me that it's because the US is so powerful or somesuch that they influence other countries all the time, so people go learn about us. France and Germany are trying to be all involved in the US fighting Iraq, but I still couldn't tell any of you much of anything about their leaders. I don't know how they are elected, nor do I know if there was controversy surrounding their elections. And you know what?? I don't care. Let France worry with their politicians, let the US worry with our own people, and we'll let everyone else (yes, Canada included) worry with theirs. People talk about how arrogant the US is, but you must see why that is, you just have to. Everyone in the world always seems to be talking about us. You'd be arrogant to if the whole world talked about and knew about you.

--- btw- about the election... everything done in it was legal. The Electoral College worked exactly as it was supposed to. The Florida ballots were recounted nine times, always with democrats in charge of the recounts, and all nine times Bush still won. The popular vote has nothing to do with the United States election process. Never has. Honestly, I don't even see why they report on it since it has no significance.

bassically, because they didn't trust us to make the right call, the electorial college doesn't even have to vote the same way as the populars

2003-02-21, 05:55 PM
Oh...What's the point of voting at all then?

SandTrout
2003-02-21, 06:14 PM
The electoral collage is an out-dated system in my opinion(and I'm pro-Bush, for now). It was in place to have educated people elect the president, but most of the time these people cannot vote the way they would like to because of laws passed in the states a long time ago.

However, if we did go by popular vote, more people would be likely to have voted for who they wanted. As it is, if you know your state is going to vote one way, you're less likely to vote because it wont make a difference. Because of this, you cannot say that had the election been via popular vote(and people had known it) Al Gore would have won.

The election was perfectly legal, and the democrats were just trying to get past that razor-thin line between the 2 candidates victory. However, they did apparently succeed in makeing Bushes legitament election apear to be a conspiracy.

Oooooooooh, you mean that video where that guy talked to like what, 6 people? Hmmm, yes, 6 people out of millions (hell hundreds of thousands since he only interviewed them in NY). Not to mention the fact that he edited out a lot of what people said. A lot of the times people would say "I don't know" and right before they got cut off you'd hear a "but.." or a "I just think....", but nah, we don't want to hear their opinions if it doesn't make them look stupid.

It's called editing to manipulate something the way you want it. Haven't you been following the Michael Jackson interview scandal?

SilentCacophony
2003-02-22, 11:15 AM
Well A) excuse me for not agreeing with your system and thinking the popular vote is what should win. Saying people don't vote because they KNOW their candidate is going to win or lose is just dumb. Voting is a privledge that our countries always show great pride in, and I agree that we should. I think the popular vote, the person the majority of the people voted for, should be elected leader. That's not the way the states do it, I don't live in the states, I don't really care.

B) The states is our number one trader. We share the worlds biggest UNDEFENDED border with you guys. You're well known for getting involved in wars. You're about to start a war with a man who supposedly has biological and chemical weapons. HOW IN YOUR RIGHT MIND CAN YOU ASK WHY WE CARE ABOUT WHAT GOES ON DOWN THERE???

I cannot believe not one person has posted up why the US system is they way it is. Every part has checks and balances, even the majority. What if the majority in a county wants equal distribution of property? Would that be a good idea just because the majority wants it?

Executive Branch: Executive office of the president; executive and cabinet departments; independent government agencies.

The President, max of two 4 year terms. We don't want someone in there for life, that would be too much like a dictatorship. At first, USA didn't have a president, but we needed someone to speek to other countries leaders, and a group of people wasn't working for that.

Powers

1) The president can veto congressional legislation.
2) The persident nominates judges.

Legislative Branch: The Congress. House of Representatives; Senate. House and Senate can veto each other's bills.

The Senate, 6 year terms, no max. They still must be voted in, but we want the highest educated people in this seat, like Romans did. We wanted this branch to be the most powerfull.

House of Representatives, 2 year terms, don't know the max.

Powers

1) Congress approves presidential nominations and controls the budget. It can pass laws over the president's veto and can impeach the president and remove him or her from office.
2) The Senate confirms the president's nominations. Congress can impeach judges and remove them from office.

Judicial Branch: The Courts. Supreme Court; courts of appeal; district courts.

Life terms. We wanted someone who was not close to the average life of society, and could rule only on what the Constitution says, not what they believe.

Powers

1) The Courts can declare presidential acts unconstitutional.
2) The Courts can declare laws unconstitutional.

Voters

Powers

1) Vote the State legislatatures in power.
2) Vote the Electoral College in power.
3) Vote the House of Representatives in power.
4) Can over rule (damnit I forgot who), but takes 75%.

Ouch, you just managed to defile America's two days of infamy in one post. That is not intelligent. Bin Laden's army is:
A) Dead
B) Hiding in Holes
C) Dead
Bin Laden is hiding somewhere, and he is so worried he's gonna die that his liver is about to frikkin explode. We can't find him, so let him stew for a while and send out more "America Sucks" videos. And, nuking all of Asia? China and Russia did happen to be our allies so what were you thinking? And I mean cmon, only 3000 people died, we lost a couple of expensive towers. So what? It's not like we should go after the people that did it. Our troops might step on someone's lawn and kill some grass. That's not right, what did the people do to deserve soldiers killing their grass? We should be like Canada and sit there happily, never involving themselves in anything. You can say you were in D-Day, and you were. But I don't call 1 division of troops hiding behind the British on Juno, Sword, and Gold a ton of help. If you continue these posts of Anti-Americanism, you will find a lot of Americans standing up and flaming you.

Since we're discussing theories, I don't think that's the case. You're giving him to much credit. I think he just get's caught in a lie, or blatant misrepresentation, and then just tell you the *YOU* read it wrong. Like the Iraqi civilians thing.
