View Full Version : Repetition in bases

I wonder if the bases will all look the same. will a biolab in one part of the continent look exactly the same as another biolab on the other side of the continent? Will all bases look the same?
who knows.
hopefully not.

Looking through the pics, I doubt they will all be identical.

i remember in some old article they said that the bases were constructed similar so that u could easily learn u way around them. i dont think that means they're identicle but i dont think that one would be a cubical set up and another would be lookin like some organic alien tech. site. my guess is its the same decor but maybe different paths.
Based on my observation each base of the same type is identical and theres 5 different types not counting towers which there is 3 different types of. Base types are: Amplifier Station, Bio Lab, Interlink Station, Techplant and Dropship Center. Every one of the same type will look the exact same in my opinion.

I think that there will be 2-3 variations in the stations: IE bio lab Alpha2 will have a door on the left side of the hologram, and bio Lab Beta6 will have a door on the right side of the hologram, just to mess people up :) (of course more pathing changes than moving 1 door 5 feet, but you get my point)
I could also see each island having their own styles, or a set of styles *like 3 diff of something* that were on each island, so each bio lab on the island is diff, but that is the same set on the next island.
Then again I could see them all being the same per type of station as well :)

Most likely subtle differneces, I thought I heard different architechture on different continents. Like Basically the same lay out, but made out of different stuff, and/or subtle differneces in panel positions etc...

oyeah, there were some old screenshots that had this freaky purple tempal like architecture. changing form for different continents would make alot of sense.

Nah, that purple thing was a scrapped tower, just like the camo harrasser that I thought looked pretty cool.
I think the buildings should look different on the outside in the different continents. I.E. the Lava ones should be red, winter white, Wooded green, etc. Something to sort of blend in with the environment. How would you tell who has control? You can tell that by the flags and your overhead map, so things don't need to change to the colour of the faction in control.
Inside looks the same from what I've seen. Black halls, futuristic mechanical looking designs. I've also heard about bases spanning for a good distance underground. I think the layout indoors will be different for each one. That was one thing I didn't like about "Renegade," you went into a building and it was the exact same everytime.
Course that wasn't a MMOFPS, this is. If you want to know the lay out of a building you've never been in so you can plan a better attack, you send in some of your infiltrators to scout it out, hopefully not getting killed while in there, and they get you a lay out so you know where to move once you invade. On top of that, if your infiltrators are fully certified hackers, they can just sit there, and once you attack and draw the enemies outside, they start to hack and you just pile in taking people out as you go. That way you don't have to break in THEN hack.
That's just my strategic brain constantly working though :D

While the layout might be simmular, each facility is unique, the Towers on the other hand all look simmular, i.e all gun towers look the same, all the air towers look the same etc. Also facilities have more then one buildling in most if not all cases, and I believe most of them have walls as well.

I am fairly certain that base types are similar, ie one amp station looks almost the same as another amp station. But each base type is unique, you cant go into an amp station and then know you're way around a tech center.

That's what I figure too, because it would be easier on the sys if all tech centers were the same. I think it would be much cooler if they were all different though. I'm hoping tech centers one continent will at least be different than tech bases on any other continent.
There isn't a base they can design that I can't break into though. Hell, I think so strategically, I've even drawn up attack plans for Cyssor when I was bored.

Either way, the bases are vast. I would not worry about it too much ;)

So if you wanted to, you could practice invading a bio lab in another bio lab that you control. You would no which ways to turn and just where to go, and all the danger spots where enemies could be hiding.

My guess is people will learn the layouts relatively quickly. It could be as easy as learning 5 Quake levels that you play over and over again (though I hope not).
Of course there will probably be maps available within the first few weeks in case anyone wants to script an attack/defense.

I hope there is some alterations in a few of the bases. It would be cool if they made a mountainside facility different from one in the middle of a field.
