That same thing is happening to me, my new comp is getting some upgrades and I won't have it till later this week.

My new comp:

P4 2.1GHz
512MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti4600
120 GB HD
Audigy Platinum Sound Pack

Computer I did my DXDig on:

P4 1.7GHz
256MB RAM
GeForce 2 MX400
80GB HD
SoundBlaster !Live! Sound Pack

This is gonna be a problem huh, but I did put I wanted to get in open beta tho. and I wrote a note that I had a better computer and the specs I entered on the 2nd page were that of my new comp.

I feel your pain. I'm getting a new comp soon too, so I can't sign up with this peice of @#$%. Heck, I'm not even old enough, stupid beta...

My new comp will have

P4 2.5GHz
512MB
Radeon 9500 Pro
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer

Can't wait, I'm stuck with this 500Mhz, 256MB, and internal graphics and sound! AHHHHHH

This is almost exactly the same computer I have, all but the hard drive. Mine is 40GB.

I am also going to get an upgrade, but not a whole new computer, just new video card and RAM

thinking about this.. nvidia is screwed for this year :)

geforce fx best model = tad better then 9700
ati will have the r350(r300 was 9700) very soon

of course nvidias drivers will be out and totally pump up the FX but still.

ATI could be the industry standard if they got their drivers up to date.

We'll see. I still trust NVidia more then ATI because of their more stable, and reliable, drivers. ATI will have to pump out more then 1 solid card to ever have me switch over. They need to get atleast a couple out in a row.

yeah, I have a 3d prophet ultra which barely meets the reqs, and I have a SBLive which should cut it, but I need a new mobo, processor, and ram.

Grr, i'm 256 RAM off the mark :(

Should hopefully be getting a few nice upgrades though:

3.06Ghz Processor
Another 512 RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4600

It's only a matter of when though :/

Wouldnt worry to much about Nvidia. Nvidia actually updates its technology, while ATI just crams more and more ram and processing onto the same outdated card. I think the 9700 was the first card in years that didnt just have a billion chips crammed into it.

im not by any means an ati fan but what you just said was total bs. nVidia has been using the same core since the geforce 3. while ati has come up with new tech. get your facts right.

actually the geforce 3 isn't much of a step to geforce 4 so its ok to use the same core tech . but radon damn, how many has there been 100-9700 moving up bwt 100 each time a new card is made, but yes they do do it old voodoo style CRAM THE CARD FULL OF RAM. VOODOOS WERE HUGE! Recent Radon drivers mess up the properties of such games as WW2 online walls are seeable and proccessing speeds drop as the comp tries to make sense of whats going on. The new Radon 9700 is an improvement over their last because they finally overhuled their drivers to actually work with more demanding games.

Dark- killer PC's PLUG
www.ibuypower.com is were im getting my new PS system

specs=
p4- 2.60ghz
1024mb of DDR PC1200 RAM
80gb HD
Nividia GeForce-4 TI-4600 128mb
and always have an optical mouse for stunning accuracy
+ lots other stuff for less then $1700 this shit is uber...ALMOST!

what does a name have to do with anything. Also "CRAM THE CARD FULL OF RAM" is not the old way of doing things. The more RAM the better. The point was that nVidia has not inovated since the geforce 3. While ati has created new cores for pretty much each video card version. Example the 9700 uses a completely new core while the GF4 is just a pumped up gf3.

A name has to do with a lot of things. If something has pumped out reliable products for 10x as long as another name, you are more inclined to trust that name. That is my problem with ATI, a bunch of their cards and support have been utter crap. So what if they made 1 good card, it is no guarantee it will still be updated w/ new drivers and get continued support. Nor is it promising for the next issues.

im not talking about a companies good name, with that nVidia wins hands down. Im referring to DarkDragon00's post about the naming of ATi products. Who cares what there called.

In the defense of ATI cards. I bought a new computer back in late November and recieved it late December. It came with a ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. Many on other tech forums and other "specialists" ecouraged me to wait two more months for the "great" Nvidia GeForce FX. Upon its release and intiail benchmarks, this noisy, power hungry, expensive card has only a FEW percentage points gain on a quieter, cheaper, and more power efficent ATI equivalent. Immediatly after release of the GFFX, ATI announced the production of the R350 (Radeon 9700 is R300). This card is to include more memory (off the already massive 19.8 gigs of bandwidth it has now) and user a .013 manufactering process. Cheaper and faster based on a sturdy design.

Driver support also used to be a big issue for ATI. Not so anymore. ATI has devised a new Catalyst[R] system for updating of drivers. Customer support is great too. I had a Audigy 2 soundvard which was being disrupted by the Radeon's mangetic field. A quick change in the slots and everything was fine.

I have a feeling ATi will end up beating Nvidia's 50-60% market share. After all they have 30% and climbing.

Watch out Nvidia.

Planes:

Falsifying information to give you an unfair advantage in selection of restricted beta testing is not admirable; nor is it legal (I think). I hope you did not sign the NDA whilst knowing your computer would not meet requirements.

Beta is to test the program. If you don't even have the proper sysytem requirments, how will they test it accurately? SOE would not like this.

At all.

Saint

Planes I think that is highly illegal. :p

Confec, actually I would think if your system was like a little under the minimum, they might actually pick you, just to se how it runs on the lowest end of the lowest comps. Like 384MB ram, 900MHz, GeForce2 stuff like that. I would sign up even if my comp didn't meet the reqs.

Saint:

They may.

HOWEVER, be honest and open. Don't lie. I'm sure they have ways of uncovering altered Dx files. Certain things won't match up.

Then again, they stated you need this...or you don't get in.

We'll see.

Warm regards,

I dont know about you guys, but the main reason I stick with ATI is the price. You can save a lot of money without hurting the performance by much. Oh no, I'm going 5 fps slower than you! NOOOO!!! Point is, I'm cheap, and I'm getting a 9500 once the FX and 9900(9800, whatever is called) comes out.

Apparently, Geforce 9700 does slightly better than the FX without FSAA (full-scale anti aliasing) because of its raw speed, but when you put on FSAA, the FX does slightly better because of... I forget.
