So when all is said and done, how many certs is a single char going to actually be able to have at once on avg? Say for a lev 15 how many will be available?

Dave has said that certs cost 2-3 "points" each and 1 point per lev with 2(?) starting. So a Lev 15 (fairly experienced) is only going to end up with 6-7 actual certs right?

So figure 1-2 in armor
2-3 in dif weps
2-3 in specialty. Combat eng, hack, med, adv hack, adv med...Not going to be able to be very general chars will you?

EX: (Close combat NC Lev 16 [strong and experienced])
(3)Med
(2)Lt
(2)Med assault (Flechette rifle)
(3)Hvy Assault (Jackhammer)
(3)AV (Phoenix
(3)Enforcer
(2)Mosquito
He can pilot and take care of himself, but cant build turrets, hacking a base will take a while, cant heal others or self.

Im thinking the best off will be MAXers simply because they dont have to worry at all about misc certs (hack, eng, medic, pilot, weps, even armor) Its all just the Lt, med, MAX and they are set.

You got it pretty correct. At level 1 you have 2 cert points, and at 20 you have 21. Certs are mainly 2-3 points, although some can be more or less. No cert will ever have mor ethen 1 pre-req.

All said and done, you probably will have 7-10 certs at BR20 or so.

Yeah, MAX's won't have to worry about that.. Cept when they're standing alone hurt in a base needing repair and unable to hack ;)

When you use a MAX you give up mobility, speed, versitility for armor and firepower.... In a MAX you're useless for annything but killing and taking damage. Well suppose you could carry some supplies in the inventory or something for your squad.

Some who specializes in MAX should still take Med Asslt Weapons for those times he can't get a MAX (ie dying and respawning at a tower).

A MAX Specialist should be able to get all MAX certs by level 6 (if Xennon's awesome Cert Calc. is accurate) and should be able to leave VR training with at least 1 maybe 2 MAX certs.

So what does a MAX spec. do with his other 14 certs??

I'd suggest Med. Asslt Weapons, Infil suit, Hacking and Adv Hacking and a fast vechicle.

Infil suit?? Hacking?? WTF is txMaddog taking and why isn't he shareing!?!

Think about it.... What could be more fun than stealthing into an enemy base, hacking a terminal and then going on a rampage inside their base with a MAX?? :drools:

They don't want you to have too many certs - trying to encourage teamwork.

I agree a MAX should keep some weapons in his locker and weapon certs.

Xennon's Cert Calc is all complete guesses and crapshoots. It is a nice, premature tool, that has nothing to do with what is in game.

You will never have 14 certs, I think you mean 14 cert points.

If you die in a MAX suit, and can't get another, you wouldn't be able to get an Infil suit either. So that kind of ruins the whole thing.

All I know is I'm going to refer to MAX's as my personal body sheilds. If I can't find a rock to hide behind, I'm just planting myself behind a planted TR max who isn't planning on moving anytime soon.

Quick question I just thought of. If your planted as a TR max, can you turn around? Cause if your in the ground, and someone comes up behind you and you can't turn right around or move, you may be screwed.

No, you can only fire in your frontwards arc, and can not turn behind you.

I thought I remembered a 60 degree turnin radius, maybe it was 160, not really sure.

Yeah, I couldn't remember it either. I think it was somewhere between 45 and 120 though. It was only the front arc.

According to some random guy on irc it is 90 degrees, 45 left and 45 right. That sounds about right to me, I thought I remembered a 6 or a 9 in the degree so yeah. That is what I would go with.
