Im just wonderin if anyone here is going to use a voice com program (IE: Roger Wilco, Battle com) in Planetside to talk to you outfit/platoon for battles. I for one am going to strongly use Roger Wilco (shareware) in my Outfit Chaos Warriors (site going to be anounced soon) as a way to command my troops in battle, and for training sessions (like bootcamp stile  )
So, how many people here think they will use somthign like that?

Voice Comm is a must for me. I just can't see a squad working together well without being able to easily communicate.
I'll probably use RogerWilco. Have never tried any of the others.

Try Teamspeak2. http://www.teamspeak.org/
I have tried alot of voice comms (Battlecom, Roger wilco, gamevoice to name a few) and Teamspeak has been the most reliable.

I like the idea of using voice comm in games but I can't ever get the thing to sound right... I dunno...
usually everyone is like, "what? what did you say? can you repeat that?"
least that's my experience with it.

Do you know can you set up groups of people in team speak? Like squads all getting chat from the leader, squads being able to chat amounst them selves, but not to the leader, and a supreme commander that is only heard by the squad commanders. Or have you guys read enders game, where they have that system, of easily choosing who to speak to (up, down, left, right and so on). People would not want to do that but it would be nice to be able to assign keys or mouse buttons to choosing different chat channels, and be able to on the fly block certain channels and so on.

Lots of things can be done with TS, you'd have to dig around a bit

Voice Com has become part of gaming for me. If I am going to play something on-line I fire up my computer fire up TeamSpeak and see what everyone is doing.
It's to a point where we get about 4 or 5 of us a night just hanging out and playing games. voice com will be a must for Planetside.

I'm sure you have heard this before, but if you havn't there are 6 more books written by Orsen Scott Card in the Enders Game Universe, that in my opinion are very good. I also have enjoyed his other books including the Worthing Sage, the Alvin Maker series, and the Call of Earth series.

I will definately use Teamspeak for the outfit I'm in at that time. I agree it's a must for a good teamplay. And Teamspreak has LOTS of crazy options :), which are important for leaders and stuff. But don't forget that most MMOG's allow you to keep a 'friends' list ingame.. That's prolly more than enough for the regular pubbing games. Voicecom also requires some setting up however or you won't understand a word ppl are saying :(

ya I read all six :D
Never used a voice chat yet, only game i would have needed it was Tribes and the ingame voice commands were usually enough for my team to understand.
If this game doesn't have an in game voice com i might have to get RW or something though. Is it hard to set up mic/sound wise? It drain a lot of bandwidth ?

Naa voice chat nowadays dosent take up much bandwith, its usualy fine on 56kers too.
Sweet, i got cable but even cable is sometimes lacking in speed, specially my ISP. :\
And how does it work exactly? If 5 people are on the "channel" does everybody talk at once? Can you talk to only 1 person? etc

TS is easy to setup, everyone talks at a differnet time, just like you would talk on a radio or walkie talkie. You can either make it so you have to push a key to talk, or voice activated
