The devs haven't confirmed anything other than end of q1 2003. But they'll be hard pushed to meet that.

Open beta hasn't started yet, and they're looking to release it in a month. I hope it happens, but it's unlikely. Probably mid April :(

I believe they are no longer standing by that Q1 release date. If you look at the new FAQs, they have changed the release date to this:

A final release date has not yet been officially announced.

Nothing is definitive now, until the game goes gold. I would expect mid-late March is a possibility, but April is more likely. Most people will get an opportunity to play in the next 3-4 weeks anyway.

end of march is very possible but most likely early april. 2-3 weeks of closed beta. then 2 weeks of open beta. then the game goes gold and ships in another 2 weeks.

About the release dates ( i didn't want to start a new topic as I guessed you guys who've posted in here are fairly knowledgeable about this) do you know if the european and american release dates will be simultaenous? I've read the official FAQ, but heard no mention about this.

On Topic : Around christmas time i was at my local GAME, and they had Planetside slated for Q4 2003. Not sure if that was ever an official date though.

Yeah, I'd been interested in Planetside when I'd first heard about it like 2 years ago (maybe more), and when I heard these release dates, that was when I got on the official site and here to gather up all information I could before release. I think Gamespot had shown March 8 or something.

Anyone notice gamestop shows a strategy guide as being released BEFORE the game even comes out? I'd rather buy a guide from someone who has at least played the game and knowns strategies (although I've never bought one in my life)

They can make Q1 if they go gold by March 14th.
They can go gold easily when they start Open Beta and patch on release day, since most Open Beta stuff gets patched server side anyhow.

Those Prima strategy guides are always released before the game, and are 90% of the time absolutely horrible.
