Hamma- Key word "some". Yes i like "some" rap, but the majority of it is worthless noise and either white guys trying to, or black guys insulting their own race. Eminem is sometimes decent, Linkin Park wasnt bad not to long ago. But for the most part, rap blow long floppy donkey.

I like some rap as well, I even went through a phase where that was all I listened too. I'm sure there are plenty of people that think rock is worthless noise, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

thats a gross exaggeration.

Wether you think its good or not is your perogative, but its more than wrong to say its mostly "white guys trying to, or black guys insulting their own race". Thats one of the stupidest comments ive heard this year.

There are lots of good white rappers that you just havent heard of, and I dont really know how black guys insult their own race but is it any different than what eminem, ozzy osbourne or marylin manson does? Which is basically talk about crazy shit to sell albums.

I dont listen to alot of rock or techno, but im not going to make a stuid generalized comment on it just because I dont like it. I would be really cool if some of you would do the same.

it is total shit. no depth to anything in it. a beat and shitty completely worthless lyrics. eminem is only popular because he raps about SOMETHING but even that's pretty worthless. people only like it because its trendy and they cant think for themselves.

Rap IS totall shit. Half the time they"rap" about something that doesn't make any sense. You can't understand what their saying, they dress like idiots with their pants falling off, and people who listen to rap talk with crazy slang and accents. The only rapper I didn't hate was Limp Bizkit becouse some of his songs were a little heavy. Anybody who listens to rap needs to play some good Heavy Metal, Rock'n Roll, (I know I'll get owned for saying this) or Country.

I see rap as techno with crappy lyrics. It doesnt appeal to me at all.

To the people who are hating on rap. How much Rap/Hip-hop have you been exposed to? Where has this exposure come from?

MTV does not have good rap, the radio does not have good rap, although Rap City on BET is usually pretty ok, most of BET's hip hop programming is crap..

Most rap/hip-hop either contains lyrics that are too explicit for television/radio, or their record labels do not have the financial capability to get them on the TV/Radio.

You have to search for good rap, it does not come to you.

Well put. This was a stupid poll to begin with, just begging for a flame war. Alot of the comments against rap in this thread carry some very heavy, albeit subtle, racist undertones. You who hate rap are grouping all rappers together under the image of people like P Diddy and Eminem and Snoop Dogg? Why, because they're all black? I know I'm not going to change the mind of most of the people in this thread, but there *is* some damn fine rap and hip hop out there. To name just a few, and this is still even keeping it pretty damn commercial, you have Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, earlier De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest, Blackalicious, Del tha Funky Homosapien, etc, etc.

Please, if you are going to give an opinion, at least make it SEEM like an educated one!

we're talking about mainstream rap. at least i am. i own both dilated peoples albums. and how the hell does this have to do with black vs. white? just because the vast majority of mainstream and even underground rappers are black we just automatically 'group' them? whats wrong with that and how would it make us 'less moral'

I like rap, some songs are better than others.

The only thing I don't get is why would they still be gangsters after they land a record contract like? and why don't they get arrested if they are:confused:

You can take the rapper out of the street, but you can't take the street out of the rapper. ;)
