I have never beta tested a game before, but I didn't know they are able to charge for beta.
"(3) You acknowledge that SOE may, in its discretion, charge a fee for the Beta Software and/or participation in the Beta Program, and your participation in the Beta Program is contingent on your payment of such fee(s);"
Will they make us pay for it?

They can, but they most likely won't.

Usually they only charge for the shipping on the disc, but since PS is a download beta that won't apply. They will possibly charge a small fee for open tho, just for the sheer bandwidth needed to send a 2.3GB file to 20,000 people.
I thought that only the first 50 peoplecould download it, and the rest had to wait so long for thier CD...

Taht is probably more likely, so I am thinking exclusive will be free downloads and open will be charged cds.

At a later date they will start using CD when they run out of Cable and DSL applicants

If we accept you into the Beta, we will send you another email with further instructions and all of the information necessary for you to acquire the Beta CD.
This is from the email after you finish the application.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who actually read the TOS (surprising even for me, I normally just hit accept and sign away my soul)

yeah, me too. Normally they go on and on. I used to read like the first 2 pages and then give up when I was younger.

Didn't it say somewhere in it that it was illegal to post its contents anywhere?

If they charged anything more then shipping, I wouldn't do open beta. Paying for an unfinished product *cough* SWG *cough* is bs.

I would love to see a little sentence at the end of the NDA/EULA. Something to the effect of :
"Accepting this you officially sign your soul over to SOE."

The first several phases download PS, after that the larger phases need the CD, not sure if it will be charged for.
