Hi all!
Ive awlays wanted to join PlanetSide (Ever since it was released and people from Tanarus started talkin about it) but i never did... untill now o_O..
A bit late I guess, But... Is it a mistake? I read that PS is dying..
Is there still some good action going on though or is it really.. DEAD already?
I'd like to hear about it. Hope I didn't waste $20 + $13 -.-''.
Also when i got my Key, I wanted it to enter on PlanetSide website (Guess what it told me!)
It said something like I already have this and that activated in my account
(I think i accidently may have bought 2 planetsides, LOL! Stupid me.)
Thanks for any info you might have!

Tanarus was never alive as the Online player counter counts ppl two times to make it look bigger... (In fact Tanarus never had over 1000 players, Only 500ish, Lol.)
But yes, It certainly is dead now, I just dont want to end up in another Dead Game.
Well it's not completely dead, give it a shot
I sure will once I get it to work, It does not like my Windows Vista, Apparently.. So I am going to give it a try in Windows XP.. Hope that works though, Else I would have wasted alot of money, haha.

PS has a high learning curve. To get good at everything and to gain rank to do it takes months. But when you do it's fun as hell.
I've played for over 3 years and have done pretty much everything. The only thing I haven't messed with is BFR's because I hate them so much.
So don't be like a regular noob and think that BFR's are the god of PS. Their not. Master infantry first.
You WILL get frustrated at first and get killed ALOT more than you kill. But like I said there is alot to get used to. Give yourself a couple of months to start getting used to everything, and once you do you will be hooked like everyone else.
PS is a one of a kind game. It's worth giving a good chance.

Why did sony than cancel the recruitment-fodder-program if the numbers are declining? Better have a living world with 1000s of BR6-noobs than literally noone around to bash, right? ;)

When you talk about during the day, you mean weekends?

i have also heard PS is dying, but i am also one who has always wanted to try it
im hoping, if i do indeed get a trial ill be rejuvenated by the game and have something fun and in depth to play
(since i juts dropped wow last month)
so now i have a new monthly sub spot open, and hopefully PSU can fill that gap
=D

I am/was active EVE player myself, and having gone for a break since 2 weeks, i have played various FPS games meanwhile. However, trying PS out looks to be extending my break for quite a longer while than i thought it would. :)
The game is not dead tbh. I don't like when there are hundreds of people sitting at every instance/planet you can get to, exploration and solo hacking is fun sometimes. There are allready enough people at the hotspots tbh, 50v50v50's are not a rare sight. I guess any more people would simply make it unplayable with the ammount of mines/vehicles and general graphical lag...
Go ahead and try it, seriously. I'ma recommend this to my friends and on other forums wich do'nt have a clue about PS.

Ultra, most people want more people not for bigger battles, but for more continents to fight on.
You're right about the battle sizes. They're as large now as they've ever been...it's just that there's so few of them compared to a few years ago. Because there's just 1 or 2 of these giong on, these continent battles are never truly winnable. 1 empire, composing of 33% of global population cannot conquer a continent against 66% of the remaining global pop. That's why we get these continent battles that are never ending and last for multiple days.
I'm sure there's plenty of theories floating around with ways to fix this, and this may have been mentioned already before. But my idea is to place time limits on continents, much the same way they're implemnted in the Caverns currently. Have the same time system used on the continents to force all three empires from engaging in days-long continent battles. They could even implement a "sudden death" system like they have with the caverns currently...when the time limit runs out, if you die you cannot respawn on the continet.
Planetside is the only MMOFPS out , the only one with more then 100 vs 100 are fighting for a base or just for amusing ....
I know it becouse i were a player of planetside for like 2 months.....
Planetside can't die , becouse it is the only one that gives ispiration for other MMOFPS....just like Ultima Online that was the mother of MMORPG....
Yes planetside need an update that make the game more unique in his genre.....
but now "they are coming " and this mistery is cool :O
Planetside won't die

I personally only played while the Reserve Program granted me and my friends free access to the game. Although it was restricted we had our fun and we had it for good. Hearing of the now smaller number of battles isn't too surprising, but I guess I will still be able to enjoy this great game (and the by now added new features) once I can get a good look at it throughout the 30 Day Trial. I'm looking forward to see in what ways the gameplay and the balance improved, what new possibilities you have as a player and, most important, how many times I can land the Liberator on the battlefield to pick some friend up.
Looking forward to see you all ingame,
Raicheck
