The MPAA has launched an unprecedented censorship campaign to keep this number from being spread around the internet. This number can be used to decrypt the DRM on most HD DVD and blueray disks in existance. Fight the man, copy it down.

It's gotten to the people that need to get it by now.
We don't need Hamma to be implicated.

Who cares? Whats there to be ballsy about? They can't bring charges against us for posting a number. Maybe versus the people who first made it public, but not the public for posting it. What if some government agency decided to make the first 30 digits of PI a value in an encryption code? Would I be charged simply for stating 3.14159265358979323846264338327? No.

Not surprised, lol.
Oh and as for Hamma being implicated, I don't see how it would be his responsibility to censor what we say, except at his own digression.

It has already been taken down from digg twice. Sure its not as ballsy as walking up and punching the president of the MPAA in the face, but it is something.

Why should I fight the man for paying him for entertainment?
And if you know about the DeCSS cases you'll know that lawyers could easily issue a cease and desist order on PSU to remove all traces of that number as it aids the removal of copyright protection.

Now this thing is retarded, EVERY god damned story on digg is about this.
Guess what all you sheeple at digg: The number was out, nobody was going to forget it.
I'm as glad as the next guy that I'll be able to watch what I buy in the manner I want to. But, for Christ's sake this is not some kind of meaning full protest.
Your hampering one of the things most helpful in fighting the media companies.
Do you think the *IAA gives a fuck that your spamming this website?
They're probably happy to have a better target for a lawsuit that could take Digg down for good. Digg's content has never been pro-DRM; it gets information out that only ends up being a thorn in the *IAA's side. The doing is done now don't jeopardize the future.
People are mad at Kevin Rose and digg because he took the original story down. "He' not standing up for his beliefs" they clamor. This fucking number could be the end of digg, and he/they took steps to prevent that after thousands and thousands had found it. The damage was done and they coul dhave been off scott-free. We'll see now.
Put this energy toward the enemy not the ally.
Why should I fight the man for paying him for entertainment?
You should care because they want to limit your use of something you bought. They want to limit your experience because you haven't bought a brand new HDTV with a tiny chip that the manufacturer had to pay a licensing fee to them for. If I bought a fucking HD movie I should be allowed to watch it for my private use however I damn well please. Fair use has become a farce.
Electro: yes they can bring charges against you for posting a number, if that number circumvents copy protection it violates the DMCA. That's the law. People are figuring out that it's retarded now but it's still the law.

Unfortunately there are plenty of people who a)don't want to buy their HD movies and b) don't use them just for their own private use. Personally I don't blame the DRM.

It's funny, because if Kevin Rose and all the other digg admins hadn't tried to purge the number out, not much would have happened and it wouldn't be a big deal at all.
