Blizzard hasn't failed me yet. I have no reason to doubt their amazingness.

First it will start with all the koreans realizing that their old celerons they bought in 1998 for starcraft won't work for this. Then they will attempt to get parts cheaply from china. That is how world war three will begin.

I'll buy it. I'll play it, but honestly I'd be more excited about it if they had brought it out 5 years ago....

WoW is a disaster. :p

I hate WoW, but 9 million subscribers times $15/$14/$13 (I'll conservatively say $14,) equals... $126 million, times 12 months equals $1.5 Billion a year. Thats not exactly what I classify as a disaster per se :p

Anyways, I've always loved Starcraft, I can't wait for SCII but I'm not going to get to excited because... well, we all know how these things work out.

Everyone's getting so jizzed about this game and I scratch my head and go, "Why?"

This reminds me of all the hype when George Lucas was in pre-production for Episode 1. I gobbled up all the info I could on my internets, went to the movie, and was thoroughly disappointed. I'm going to laugh when, in 2010 Blizzard releases SCII and all the fanbois are going to go, "I waited HOW LONG for this P.O.S.?"

Very cool. I've been waiting for StarCraft II for a long time... lets just hope they don't dissapoint me like they did with StarCraft: Ghost.

I imagine they won't... Blizzard has tons of cash now from WoW and a reputation to keep. StarCraft is a big part of why Blizzard was a success, so I think they will be trying very hard to make a worthy sequel.

The only concern is that since it is not likely much of the staff (if any) that worked on the original StarCraft is working on the sequel, that you have a lot of developers with different ideas as to how StarCraft II should be, and if they can't pull those ideas together into a cohesive game then it could be a disaster.

It's definitely going to be a hit-or-miss.

Word on the street is they're developing a way for the game to give you a blowjob.

I think it will end up being the same basic game with a few new units for each faction and some new abilities on the old units. It looks like they're going for some more big powerful units this time around. And I'm still disappointed with the Terran Battleship! It still only shoots one laser every three seconds? Come on, it's a BATTLESHIP!

Edit: Oops, seems I was mistaken. It seems that there will not be a new race in SCII according to the FAQ.

From what i've read the gameplay is generally the same as the old Starcraft and Blizzard even mentions base rushing as a viable tactic in RTS games. :(

The gameplay isn't gonna be any different, because they're marketing this game to the competive, Korean players.

Thanks but no thanks. I've been spoiled by CoH squads, capture points, destructable maps. This RTS game seems like a step back for the genre.

Im gonna wait for the DoW2 announcement instead.

Here's where I read it;

[Blizzard is] really going back to its roots to make a true sequel to Starcraft"--a sequel where resource management will be much more central to gameplay, with less micromanagement of different units with special abilities, and in which full-on early-game "rushing" (making an all-out assault at or near the beginning of a new game session) will be much more viable.

C&C went back to its roots and IMO it works pretty damn well.

sometimes you just don't need a god damn innovation every fucking time you put out a game.

that being said, I'm not expecting game of the year here, I'm expecting a solid and fun RTS like the first one was.
