Iv looked around on some other message forums and most are answering me back that snipers are unable to do heavy dmg becuase of the armor most people will be wearing. I plan to be a sniper but i dont want to be a support role, i played a cleric to lvl 50 in DAOC, a bard in EQ and a life mage in AC, so im sick of supporting:D Anyone know a specilization like heavy armor or something that is able to go out on there own and get some BEPs

Any responses i will really appreicate

Thx

Heh, get ready to be flamed. First lone wolf ever to come forward...Anyway..Go for the medium I guess. Allows two rifles, and the most armor next to a MAX. BTW, getting BEPs lone wolfing won't be very effective. The world is huge and it'll be hard to find easy prey.

You don't need to worry about being lone wolfs. There will be lots of them sneaking around and to hunt down, but if u are in a squad u will survive easier and u will be able to conquer bases.

I have heard the following stuffs about the Bolt-Driver:

With 1 shot u can bring down those who wear...
1) Infiltration Exo-Suit
2) Standard armor

With two shots u can bring down those who wear...
1) Agile armor

With 2 or 3 shots u can bring down those who wear...
1) Reinforced armor

But u will need many hits to bring down a...
1) MAX

U can also do 1 hit kills with a knifes secondary attack.

It will not however be effective in close combat situations to use a BD because it takes so long times to reload the bullets. So u better have another weapon available for those situations. :D

****

I will solo and try to bring down lone wolfs. I will solo to see if I can tactically bring down a squad of 2 or 3 other players and I will group with my friends when they are logged in and form squads to conquer bases in heavy assault. :D

I will use these certs:
1) Medium assault
2) Agile armor
3) Basilisk
4) Reinforced armor -> Lots of inventory (9x12)
5) Bolt-Driver
...

The rest is a big secret....

No thats wrong, there are no headshots so you won't be able to kill someone in one shot but 2 should probably do the trick on most armors, maybe more for the MAX. Croco might be right but I've only heard shot amounts listed for regular weapons (standard assault certification).

lemme guess, you heard this in the Ofiicial Forum:rolleyes:

true. if you really want to get into the thick of the battle, have the medium armor and either meium assault or heavy assault. but what role do you want to play? anti-vehicle or Maggot private:D ?

Who said anything about headshots?

The Bolt Driver delivers one hit kills on standard armor and the Infultration suit. Even if they are shots to the toe.

If you want to be a lonewolf i'd recomend the saboteur approah... place boomers in bases and blow up enemies as they come out of their spawnroom or when they use the terminals.

inf suit and engineering.. + hacking so you can rsupply from enemy terminals =)

I am gonna be a sniper. I would like a MAX partner to act as a lure. I plan to have medical certs too, to heal us. He lures guys out and takes the hits while I snipe people un noticed. If things get frisky he runs off and I get in the skeeter to cover him then run. Sounds like a plan to me.

Might want to take engineering too so you can repair your MAX bud.

Where did you hear that, they said that one of the reasons they removed head shots was to slow down the already fast combat. Why would the make a one shot kill if they were trying to slow the game down.

If you want to be a lone wolf, I suggest bending over allot.

Being a lone wolf in this game will be tricky :p

Would make sense, actually. Almost no one will be in standard armor, and infiltration's whole point is NOT to be seen, especially through a scope. The infiltrator would have to be moving fast and the sniper would need a VERY sharp eye.

As dreadful as it sounds, i've "heard" that there was going to be more hit boxes, such as torso, head and others, but they reduced it to head and body only, to cut down on server load, sound plausable? Or do you guys think they will have no headshots what so ever? It seems to me, that they like to focus on the fact that in order to be a good shot, you need to use your eyes, and your hands, so i would think that they want there to be headshots. Just a thought. Lemmie know what you guys think.

Theres no damage modification for hitting someone in the head.. you do the same damage no matter where you hit a person.

Lone wolf = target practice

Here's a little demonstration of how pointless it is to be a lone wolf in a big map. A buddy of mine and I will play El Alamein on the Axis side. He'll be a medic in a tank I'm an engy in artillery and/or a jeep. We usually take the East base in a matter of minutes and we can hold onto it for entire rounds at a time. It is actually a sport for us to take out lone wolves in jeeps that are trying to flank us. When multiple vehicles are coming at us it almost never fails that someone on our side will come flying by when we call for air support. Sure we die here and there but we don't die nearly as much as the Rambos of the game that believe that they can take us down by themselves.

The motto of course is this: Find at least one other person that you can run with (if you're looking to actually fight and not participate in espionage/sabotage) because two people working together is so much better than getting killed over and over again by yourself. I'd recommend more but one fellow soldier is still better than none.

The sniper/MAX is an interesting idea except for the fact that you would be easy targets if the MAX accidentally drew anything but infantry out. I assume that your partner would be an anti-infantry MAX which would leave both of you vulnerable to any vehicles land or air.

It really depends on how you like to fight. My friend, is a big loner, he rarely moves with a pack, and honestly, he is DAMN good at it. He doesn't trust anyone to cover him (except me when we do work together). You can be he'll be one of those guys, that you'll be sending whole squads after. :P

Me however...I like to be with a nice small squad. Big enough so I know my backs covered, but small enough so we can move fast, and not get noticed too easily.

I love being with alot of friends playing a game. It sucks being a lone wolf IMO. One thing I love about pay to play, you can make friends, and know you will always be in the same faction every time you log on.

hehe i guess i was wrong like a regular newbie, i thought as a sniper you would find a little hole, duck in it and drink coffee until you see someone and shot um. Guess not really, well then my secound choice will either be sabotaging or just a heavy assault and running around in squads doing some hurt, i hope :)

The no headshots, no hit boxes, all areas being equal thing has been done to death on these boards, and any experienced member won't bring up this can of worms again. If you want to read the discussion, feel free to look back a couple of pages on the topic, but please don't bump anything. We are trying to keep this topic dead now, since it is just beating a dead horse.
