But Gadson's grandmother, Rosa Jones, said: "He ain't no hero. He is a murderer and God will serve justice."
She and her husband, Ivory Jones, pastor of a Fort Lauderdale church, sat on their front porch in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday wondering how a man could shoot two people and not go to jail.
Now that you see that, let's set the table:
John Lovell had just finished dinner at about 11: 15 p.m. Wednesday when, Plantation police say, two men armed with guns rushed inside a Subway shop and demanded cash. After robbing the store, the men turned to Lovell. They wanted his money, police said.
But like his attackers, Lovell was armed.
The retired military man opened fire, shooting dead Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale, and critically injuring Fredrick Gadson, 21, of Fort Lauderdale.

Gee, they were armed, robbing a store, and threatening a retired, armed Marine... hey Mrs. Jones, maybe if your kid hadn't ya know, tried to rob him, he wouldn't be dead... I know, what a concept.

Good for him, that guy is a hero. And the fucks robbing the store should have known better than to break the law eh?
They said their grandson sometimes hung with the wrong crowd but never got into legal trouble.
Thats funny that he walked into a subway with a handgun and tried to rob it?
Goodbye to another criminal.

Bingo. I read this and was flabbergasted the family had the nerve to ask why the Marine wasn't in jail...
Look, in 10 years if my son were to rob a store, at gun point and was killed. I would be sad, I would mourn his loss, but I wouldn't ask such a stupid question like that.

Apparently his mom failed to teach him that if you play with fire you could get burned.
Arrindell, friends said, found himself in a similar situation: no high school diploma and working odd jobs. So he went back to school. He was a man with past troubles, including a 2004 arrest for carrying a concealed weapon, but he was improving his life, they said. He recently bought a car and had a girlfriend.
Hold up! This dipshit just robbed a bank, even if his intentions were good he just walked into a subway with an illegal weapon and illegally attemped to rob the place.
HELLO? This thing on?!?!! *tap**tap*

If my son attempted to rob a store and failed, I'd kill him myself.

He was in deep emotional trouble.
He wasn't robbing the store because he wanted to get money by breaking the law. It was an action full of angst. Before hand he cut himself multiple times. In fact, he was soooo emo, his wrists cut themselves.

Bah it's like the idiot who got shit in the ass up here in canada.
The moron is 300 pounds, 6 feet 3 inches and when he got into an accident after drinking and driving and two police women awnsered the call... he was about to be arrested and he swung caught one of them in the head... took the club and started hitting her partner. So she shot and hit him in the ass.
He says he was drunk doesn't remember hitting the woman and him and his family are saying that it's ridiculous how easy police shoot at people and that they could of knocked him unconscious instead of shooting him...
Yeah two 140 pounds police officer almost of foot smaller then you and you expect them to knock you out when you start wailing on one of them?

I'm not against concealed carry.
But a wallet is a small price to pay for a life, even if it is a robbers.

They just robbed a store without shooting anyone, why would they kill an old man after getting his wallet?

If someone held you up at gunpoint for your wallet.. You really aren't thinking about the wallet. you are thinking, "Is he going to kill me?"
Even when the wallet is taken, there are plenty of people still shot and killed. Those guys don't care what happens to the victim. they just want money because most likely they live in poverty, or something is wrong in their life.
His reaction was definitely quick, and deadly. But, if someone held me up at gunpoint, even to just take my wallet and not shoot me, how the fuck am I supposed to know? People will do what they need to do to survive.

I understand what he did, and don't expect him to have the time to think about who the robbers aren't shooting.
I wouldn't have shot anyone, because I'm not going to be carrying a gun around.

It's your choice to allow yourself to be at the whim of a criminal. Personally, I will have my CHL soon, and I won't hesitate if I feel threatened.
I would rather shoot a criminal then be a statistic because I was too scared to defend myself.

When it comes down to it. Only a slight minority of people WILL get assaulted and an even smaller minority will have the guts to defend themselves by shooting somebody in the face.
When I read your post I heard banjos... because I can actually see you being trigger happy. But let's not launch another debate we all know where this will end up.
The robbers fucked with the wrong person. That's it, that's all. They got what they deserved.

Ah yes, banjos, trigger happy(i.e. vague insults..) but let's not go there.
Typical. (hint, try NOT going there at all if you don't want to talk about it eh? Brilliant I know.)
I'm not trigger happy, but my life means something to me and I would rather carry a gun I never use then be in a situation where I needed it and it wasn't there.
