Don't know if my link will work but basicly you have one guy saying "Now it's gonna be media and retail only, not about the 65000 people that have no business there in the first place!"

Yeah because gamers have nothing to do with your success uh? Fucking dicks.

Yes the fact that it was going private was OFN.

The video is not. What the guy says is what pisses me off. Not the fact that it's now a private show.

It's got nothing to do with success and everything to do with the fact that it's an expo and should be for the media and retail to get first glimpses on products to decide what to support, what not to support, what's hot, and what direction the gaming industry will be taking in the next year. Thousands of people there just to be at E3 just gets in the way of that process and to my mind he's perfectly right in saying that they have no right to be there.

The whole craziness of E3 was definitely pretty neat. But, I do agree with Lartnev because unless you are actually going to create some input about the new games/features/consoles/etc., then you really don't have a reason to be there. What he said about them wanting to focus more on the new the products, does make sense.

That's why media had media passes...

They could skip lines, had they're own private little lounges to go have interviews with various developers. Nothing really stopped anyone from getting a feel of the new products. If you got distracted by the girls, the lights and the sound... it's your fault haha.

Plus with the expo being open many "civilians" could also take a peek at what was to come. It hyped the market. Because god knows sites as well as people could be biased and by seeing more then 3 major sites doing the reports... it helps. We can see various blogs and people commenting on the upcoming games so we don't see only one point of view.

Then again it could be just me being pissed about missing my only chance of going there. :p

OK so, now instead of going, you get to continue what you've done in previous years by following the coverage of various media outlets.

I'm pretty sure E3 was always media and industry only, the thing was that it was pretty easy to get a press pass or something.

Actually I was saving up to go with a couple of buddies of mine this year or the next. Instead I'll just put the money aside for a trip or fuck maybe even some better gear then what I currently have right now for my Brazilian jiu-jitsu and my kick boxing.

I'm guessing getting a pass will be harder. Also, I do believe there was visitor passes that you could purchase.

Nope. The difference is that now, you can't apply for a press pass, you have to be invited by the event coordinators.
