Got a group interview on tuesday of this week.

I guess I should be wearing business casual? Slacks with a dress shit and skate shoes (they're nice and clean) or dress shoes?

The salary would probably be a couple of bucks less then what I'm doing right now but atleast I'd like what I was doing.

Any tips, suggestions or past experiences with them?

slacks  what a dumb word.

I haven't been to ebworld in ages not sure what they are looking for.

When I went one of the employees had a neckbeard and wore an awful to god blue button down shirt opened up to a gray t-shirt... he had that look of a gamer who doesn't come out too often and lives for Pokemon.

I doubt that's what they are searching for in an employee... but you never know I suppose... hence why I asked for advice.

Your applying for what? A cashier/sales position?

Look nice, but group interviews are hardly ever something formal.

Yeah I don't have any experience as a manager, so I'm applying as a salesperson... they just happen to work the cash as well... so... store clerk I guess it's called in english?

Yeah, that job is about as 'entry level' as you get.

If they're looking for people and you don't look and act like an idiot, you'll be fine.

just start making up things about video games and pretend you don't know anything about them. they'll promote you to district manager within a week.

I was actually surprised that the manager of the store who made my pre-order for Army of two and Kane and Lynch didn't know anything about both titles. I'm supposed to get new content along with my army of two pre-order... hopefully I'll get it.

Either way I'll try my best. It's not like I have anything to lose.

I'm going back to school in september anyways. Going into carpentry and going to do electrician classes part-time after my main classes in order to get a good job and stop hopping from job to job.

You'll quit within 3 months.

This isn't what you think it is.

Prepare to deal with ignorant parents who know nothing about games and constantly accuse you of trying to sell them or their kids something they don't need.

Prepare to deal with kids crying and acting up and parents screaming at them constantly and letting everyone in the store know that " I don't have time for this."

Prepare for loser ass teenagers bringing 50 used games to have them traded in and you have to go through EACH FUCKING DISC making sure they are not scratched and when you do come across scratched disc you spend 10 minutes arguing about it, and at the same time you have a line up of angry parents building up.

Prepare to answer the phone and list every "hot" game you currently have in stock and still have the idiot kid on the other line ask if you still have it in stock. You'll be doing this every three minutes on release day.

Prepare to have some idiot grown loner, no life, loser man walk into the store every 2 or 3 days and talk to death bout everything gaming related, while you just shake your head and go and say "yes" every 2 minutes and he won't leave you lone till your break.

Oh and a lot of times you'll be left alone without the manager so when you get your daily angry mom or dad demanding for the manager, your screwed.

Chicks won't dig you. Not even the gamer chicks if thats what you were hoping for.

Anyways it might be different for you, but either way you will deal with lots of annoying, angry parents.

I havent had a job at EBGames before, but if I did, this is how I would have thought it would be like.

I was an electronics salesman for god knows how long, I'm kinda used to getting yelled at and bitched at. Don't get me wrong if I don't like the job I'll hunt for a new one and once that's found I'll be quitting but I'll see what happens eh.

Ah and I don't know about you, but I don't use my job for picking up chicks... but thanks for the heads up eh. Like I said... it's a temporary job. I'm leaving next september for school.

I hear that working for a video game retailer actually sucks.

I hear that taking dick up the ass actually sucks.

but seriously

Its true, I've got a buddy that works for gamestop and he hates it; the only thing that keeps him going to that job is the discount.

Busy as hell but not that hard. The rebate itself is fun... too bad you can't bring stuff home early... guitar hero 3 is already in our backstore...

The lack of organization is what shocks me really. There's codes for used and new games and codes for consoles... but they're in a book with no tags what-so-ever to indicate the page... why not stick a list next to the computers?

The drawers aren't tagged to know what's in what... so you have to take a guess wich one has the PC games or the Xbox games.
