Try being an American living in London for 4 months. It absolutely sucks!!
The prices of things are all the same as in the states, except that it's in Pounds instead of Dollars. For example... McDonalds has a "99 pence" menu, but that equals 2 dollar menu for me.
Suckage.

What sucks is... if I had the patience to do so, I could drive down to the states and pay so much less money for pretty much anything, car/games/consoles. The only company that's doing adjustements here is sony...
almost 8-10$ less for their games...

Just because the dollar is low doesn't mean your currency has more buying power.
That's now how currency value works.
It might in fact it's value might just be falling slower then the dollar, so it only appears to be gaining value relative to the dollar.
If you want cheaper stuff, your going to have to convert some CAD to USD and come over here.

Awww but I'm lazy....
Nah but seriously we have a bunch of stuff going down slowly... it's taking so much time thought. I'm waiting for the dollar to hit it's high to get myself my car... might have to go with a pickup because of my classes/future work (carpentry).

So the value of the American dollar is falling and you assume that means your currency is worth more everywhere? Of all the things that you buy or want to buy, how many are imported to Canada FROM the United States?
not many I'd imagine.
