What else do you suggest?
The camaro that isn't in production yet?

Ford paid a buttload of $ for that car to be a Mustang.

Yeah, actually. Enough pre-production pictures have been released, it wouldn't be a problem.
I saw the trailer for the show the other night. I agree that using a Mustang is ridiculous. Fucking marketing.

I disagree.
The car is going into production late this year, for introduction to the market in 2009. Quite a bit too late for the shows production.
They's got test mules for various stuff, but they aren't going to build a one off sample for a TV show.
Is also isn't exactly Transformers with a budget that can get Saleen to build a couple modified Pontiac GTO Camaro-look-alikes.
When you factor in that Ford would pay money and neither car is a Grand Am anyway....

I'm probably a bigger F-Body fan than any of you here, but the bottom line is GM doesn't have shit out for "cool tv cars".
You can't do a new camaro because transformers already did it and you can't really double dip for this type of application. I suppose they could use a corvette but eh, that just wouldn't work, it's a different kind of car and market.
It's a continuation of the original series and you really need an in production car and as much as I would of loved to see a 4th gen LS1 T/A they haven't been sold for 6 years.
I hate mustangs as much as the next GM guy, but it worked, and I thought the show was enjoyable.
MORE HOFF PLZ! :groovy:

KITT = hotT. I liked the movie, the story worked well with the original and wasn't over the top. Screw GM!
Double dip or not, I am sure it came down to who paid more. I am sure a Camaro would have been used if GM dug deeper. It isn't as much the writers choice as it is the marketing choice.

They did it pretty well in transformers.
