is the 20 mm independent from the 150?

Yes. You need 2 people to fire both simultaneously.

right, so rotating the main gun wont affect the other?

I think so...i'm pretty sure 80%

i think it works like the co-axial machine gun on the bf1942 tanks, only someone else is driving and all you can do is move the turret around.

I hate the machine gun on the tanks. Not the co-axial. The fully turreted one. Almost impossible to use. If it's like that will get annoying quickly

But 1 person can control both weapons ,right ?

From what I've heard no. Not sure, I think one person handles the gun, andother the mchine guns and another drives. From the looks of it tanks will be very powerful indeed if they need 3 people to use them.

yes, but someone else has to drive

and sputty, i think i remember reading somewhere that the turrets on tanks are gimballed (sp?), which basically means if the driver turns, your still facing the same way.

edit: nonono sputty, the only tank that was ever three people was the prowler, since the machine guns could move independently (i think they made it two and slaved the MGs to the main cannons though), their would be no point to having a 3rd crewman on the vanguards machine guns.

Oh yeah..You're right...I remember that too now..Heh, thanks for reminding me. That'll make 2nd gunner's job alot easier. HEh, trying to control the 2nd gun in a tank is next to impossible in BF. It's more of a troops transport area and makeshift AA defense.

I'm 99.999...% sure that one person can control both turrets, but not simultaneously. It was somewhere in the articles or devchats, but I don't know where. You switch between guns unless you have another person besides the driver. Then the driver controls one and the gunner controls another (driver gets priority in choice of turret), and they cannot interfere with eachother.

grr heres what im asking:

the vanguard has 2 guns. the main and some machine-guns. when you move the main one around, will the machine guns move with it or are the machine guns separate from it?

I guess they are connected. Hmmm I stand corrected.

If I cant drive the tank and fire the gun myself like in BF1942 then I will never drive a TANK that is so gay

get your tanks straight saint, their is no way the MGs are independent on the Vanguard, your thinking of this (http://www.planetside-universe.com/media/viewer.php?img_id=162), this is the Vanguard (http://www.planetside-universe.com/media/viewer.php?img_id=244)

Heh, Only the prowler. You're NC anyway

To me it looks as if the prowlers MGs are connected to the main guns.

I thought I saw one that looked new that had the MGs over the driver hatch and the main cannon separate. Hmmmm I guess we will find out eh?

vanguard has like zero coverage if the secondary guns arent independent. sure great firepower but no way to lay down fire.

There are no "two turrets" on the vanguard. In EVERY available screenshot, the 20mm recoilless cannons are pointing in exactly the same direction. The devs have stated that there are 2 crew members in a vanguard.

1 driver. 1 gunner. Driver drivers. Gunner guns. That's it.

Prowler: 1 driver, 2 gunners. Each gunner controls an independant turret.

Mag-Rider: 1 driver 1 gunner. I believe that the driver actually gets to control a weapon on this one.

In all cases, tank turrets "gimballed". Their rotation is not affected by the rotation of the tank itself. This makes acurrate, on-the-move fire possible (particularly for the Vanu, whose projectiles are (presumed to be) unaffected by gravity). Note that only tanks have this feature... buggies and the like do not.

only driver and gunner? so the gunner only shoots the big cannon or something? what are the 20 mms for then?

Incompetent

The gunner shoots the big cannon and the 20mms

Smokejumper said in the Dev Chat w/Hamma & Marsman that the turret guns moved independantly of the tank's motion.

The way you stated this is confusing. But the way it works is if the tank makes a sharp left, while you are aiming your turret at a Mag-Rider, after the turn your gun will still be roughly aimed at that Mag-Rider.

The 20mm Chainguns can be switched to and from with the cannon by the gunner. He does not control both at the same time.

The ONLY driver of any two man, or more, vehicle that controls a gun is the Mag-Rider driver, and that is because the cannon is a fixed cannon, so the person moving the vehicle needs to control the weapon.
