My stupid of a mom won't let me see Black Hawk Down. Any ideas on how I could see this movie? Most of my friends have seen it and were talking about it in school today. It sounded awsome.

In one scene, a dude in a jeep gets hit by an RPG, and it shows his upper half all scraped up, and then it zooms down to his legs, but they aren't there. His guts are all hanging out and crap. :blowup: Then, right after that, a guy is crawling on the ground for cover, and he glances over at a hand, and stuffs it in his pocket in case anyone might need it again. Lol, kinda gross, but a good movie.

The movie is very violent. Scenes range from a man with no bottom half and entrails sticking out to a man getting gibbed by an RPG to a surgery. All on camera.

I liked the part in BHD where the 7 year old arab kid with an AK-47 tried to shoot one of the American soldiers only to have completely riddled his own father full of lead who came up behind the soldier just as he ducked.

Nasty, no something you should do OR
Wrong, but looks better on camera

and it gives you the wrong ideas about sex. Its not how sex really is (for most people) and if thats all you see and hear about sex other then what the other 14 year olds tell you, and they dont know shit, then you will have large misconseptions about it. -

Eh...it depends on what you're talking about. Most of the time, adults do have a little bit deeper understanding of life, but I'll go out on a limb and say they're not as in touch with their emotions as much as kids because of all the restraint they need to function in the world. When a kid is feeling sad, they cry. When an adult is feeling sad, they express thousands of subtle signs they don't even know about.

As for adults knowing more in general, that's very debatable. I'll match wits with anyone older than me in a game of trivia, any day.

I also want to say that firsthand experience isn't always the precursor to knowledge. Do you have to touch a stove to learn that it's hot and could burn you? Nah. Experience helps a lot, but it's not essential to learning.

Yay, im happy! I just saw BHD. On my way home from school I rented it and finished watching it like 10 min before my mom got home. It was a great movie. I think it did me more good than bad. I was thinking of possibly joining the SEALS or something when I got older, but after seeing that movie, HELL NO! It showed me what war is realy like. None of that de-emotionalized text book crap. And anyone who thinks me watching that movie makes me want to kill people is full of crap. And btw, i have pleanty of pubes. :D

I think that those of us who have had more experiance with life have seen that life is hard, and is proably a hell of alot harder when raising a kid, so we have lots of respect for our mothers, and it ticks us off if we see someone who has no real idea of how hard life can be (and if you still live with your parents you dont) disrespecting the person who gave them life.

I remember hating my parents and all their stupid rules when I was young (MANY MANY Years ago) but I tell ya things that seemed earth shaking at the time were all trully petty and small.

I had to go through allot of years hating my parents and would highly encourage all you youngsters to get over it. Parents do what they think is right... rarely do their children see the same point no matter how calmly you try to explain it to them.

I've now lost one of my parrents (my father) and cherish the other...

Love'em while you got'em cause you'll miss'em when they're gone!

Parent's aren't always right in the ways they raise their children, look at social services that has to remove children from parent's custody who beat them, or sexualy molest them, or sell them on the street for prostitution, or leave them alone for days while they are off being neglegent about their offspring.

There's nothing wrong with hating your parents, in fact, the belief that it is wrong can be harmful. Just because someone has a child and pays to raise it doesn't mean they're automatically a good person.

Doing what you think is best isn't necessarily the best choice. The more repressive the parents are, the more likely the kid is to act out in a self-destructive way. The more forbidden something is, the more likely the kid is to do it. Our friend Jaged here is a perfect example of what I'm talking about, his mom said no so what'd he do? He went out and saw the movie.

Once a kid is 14-15, there's not a whole lot parents can do to stop them from doing whatever they want, the only thing they can really do is make the kid's life harder/more annoying. This amounts to a big lot of stress for both parties, a smart (read: manipulative) parent will guide rather than try to control.

My parents didn't really give me a whole lot of flak through my teenage years (which I'm on the tail end of still); about the only guideline I really have is a loose curfew...they'll nag me if I'm not in by 11, but they never get bent out of shape about it. They didn't really talk to me about sex or drugs or anything, and I'm a perfect little angel (that's not sarcasm, I don't date, drink, or dope up).

My brother on the other hand, turned out to be a deadbeat lieabout. With him, they were very, very strict. He wasn't allowed to have girls over unless they were both there, he wasn't allowed out past ten, etc. He started selling other kids acid when he was 15.

That's what I'm basing my point on.
