So, ladies and gentlemen... (or really just gentlemen.. ladies are a rarity around here...)
Who amongst you has moved up to Windows 7? Thoughts?
I snagged the $29.99 deal for students and installed it the other night. I haven't had a chance to delve deep into it yet. I'm still booting into WinXp for most things because I've been busy. (I put in a 2nd HD and installed Win7 on that, so I've still got my regular WinXP to fall back to for the moment.)

I downloaded the RC back in May, enjoyed it but uninstalled it due to lack of hard drive space and video drivers back there were far less mature.
Fast forward to September, I installed the RTM version of Windows 7 Pro x64. Ive completely replaced XP/Vista and im not looking back. I didnt have any problems with Vista, but 7 feels much "snappier" and responsive.
On the gaming front, im looking forward to DX11. I ran the new ATI DX11 Tech Demos and ive been blown away. Check this link: http://developer.amd.com/samples/demos/pages/ATIRadeonHD5800SeriesRealTimeDemos.aspx

My friend is a computer tech at a Staples, so he was given a couple to practice with, before the release. He says it is going to give me a copy, which I'm sure he will, but it may be a while because we're both quite busy.

It rocks I've been running it for about a month or two now. Best MS OS in a long time.

Apples already at it:

Funny thing is, though, these ad's dont really work. Especially the "broken promises" one. Im hearing good stuff about Windows 7 from different people.
An other thing, Apple has a huge advantage with the singular brand identity that PC does not. OS X = Mac. Windows = Everything else, including homemade. Apple goes on about how Mac's are #1 in customer satisfaction (computer), but Microsoft cant say that because PC is not a brand, its a platform.

Aye
Apple has an awesome marketing department. Apple will obviously never take over Windows due to the many compatibility issues and non-customization. However they are doing a pretty good job snatching up people.

I've been using Win7 for about 4 days now, and I'm already thoroughly impressed over WinXP. This might just keep me from getting a mac next year...

You couldn't make me use an Apple product again if you gave me a lobotomy with a rusty spoon.
I say bring on the Windows 7 Deadly Sins.

So... I'm fucking retarded when it comes to computers.
If I would want to upgrade vista to win7... how do I go about it? Is there a program I can update vista with? Or do I need to wipe my damn computer and install windows back on?
Honest to god... I really hope it's not the second option.

You can upgrade from Vista leaving all your programs and files intact.

Nice... and it won't cause any problems? Like files remaining behind and causing more lag then it should?

Yes there are orphaned files, however they do not cause lag, they cause loss of harddrive space, the files aren't running.
I myself took the opportunity to switch to 64bit and wiped my harddrive.
