How do you guys feel about windows defender (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx)? I always made a point not to install it when I was running WinXP, but it looks like it comes pre-installed on Win7 (either that, or it snuck by me in Windows Update this time.) I'm currently running Avast! as my virus/malware scanner. Should I disable Windows Defender just to free up some memory, or let it ride?
-edit: Ever since I started using avast years ago, I've never had a malware or virus issue. I use the internet responsibly, haha.

I use COMODO on my Vista laptop, runs great. I've even stopped using AdAware and SpyBot lately. Windows Defender is permanently off on all my machines.

I have Norton 360, and all the amenities. Compliments of my computer tech friend. No, it's not pirated. I also have Norton Utilities. It's all like one big package, that was given to me.
I'm happy with it. It's not like I really search through shady websites (except for this one).
My Windows Defender is turned off.

I turned that BS off.
I use ProcExp instead of the Windows Task Manager because I can kill any process and find where it's located. I also use Spybot Search & Destroy after I run HijackThis!
I don't think you really need anything else.

I've always found that the Symantec/Norton & McAffee stuff is so bloated it's worthless.

Besides it being completely free for me, I have not had any problems with it.
