This is really interesting. It's kind of a brain teaser.
Condition : You must do this in your head. Don't use paper to write out the problem.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000.
Now add 30. And another 1000.
Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10.
What is the total?
Did you get 5000? Most people do, but the correct answer is actually 4100. If you don't believe me, try using a calculator or writing it on paper.
Thanks.

lol. Here's why:
the 40+30+20+10=100, not 1,000. But, since you're so distracted by adding 1,000 every time, your mind adds the 100 as a 1,000 without realizing it.
1000+40=1,040+1,000=2,040
2,040+30=2,070+1,000=3,070
3,070+20=3,090+1,000=4,090
4,090+10=4,100
That last step is where the brain, without realizing it, just carries the one all the way over into the thousand's place.

I'm assuming Hamma understood it just like me.. but thank you anyway. I appreciate the effort you have put into us.

I definitely got 4100... I saw that all you did was add numbers so I added the large values first and then the small increments. I do a lot of addition at work (I get to bill people for alarm system service) so I'm used to it I suppose.
