Just wanted to let as many Planetside players know as possible.
I'm currently making a PS mod for Starcraft 2, and would like some input from PS players.

Currently, most of the units/buildings are done, along with some implants. It's not in a playable state yet unfortunately. As I'm currently working on this on my own, I'm not dealing with custom models, at least not yet anyways.

Planetside Mod Team page (http://www.sc2mapster.com/teams/planetside/)
Included on this team page, is as much info on what I've done as possible, along with things still to do, and a brief rundown of what I'm actually gonna implement. It also has a link to some videos detailing the progress of the mod.

Hopefully, you'll like what you see, despite it still being very rough around the edges. I understand that watching a video makes it hard to compare to playing PS, but I hope you'll get where it's going and how faithful I'm trying to make it.

Also if anyone is working in the Starcraft 2 editor, and wants to help out, it'd be more than welcome.

Look forward to reading your comments on it. Good or bad.

Sorry for the bump, but I just read this.

How is this project going?

Extremely slowly I'm afraid, not many folk interested, and even less willing to help out.

Just finished Orbital Strike. Vid of it in action is in the links to my vids.

Still to attach a sound effect to it, but the mechanics work.

If that's what third person games are like, my reaction is "Man, and I thought engineering was boring" in PS.

Don't quite follow, it's not a third person game, it's an RTS, and it' still WIP. Just updating with where I am on the project.

That's the abbreviation I was looking for, RTS. Yeah, I'm not criticizing it in any way, I'm stating that if that what RTS games play like, then, as a genre, I am definitely the FPS type of guy, even doing something as unexciting as engineering in PS.

Ahh, cool. Hopefully when I've got more of the mechanics in it, it should be more fast paced. More in line with a cont commander having a bit more control over the troops :D

Well, that's hopefully anyways :D

I can see about getting a few low poly placer models if you want them. Maybe they will increase interest so you can get a real modeler, hm?

Apprieciate the thought, and the offer. If your able to, (See below) some towers or facilities would be a big help. Obviously units would be a HUGE help as well, but I imagine they're more complicated, even without anims. The lower the poly, the better, as all the models need to fit into a 10MB file. Silly Blizzard map file size limit.

Thanks again for the offer of help.

The biggest issue however is that the models need to be in an M3 format. which currently doesn't really exists outside of Blizzard. There's a MaxScript around which will export to that format, but I have no idea how to use that.

If you think RTS are slow then you've obviously never watched pro SC / Sc2.

I recommend adding in the words when you're making the video, not when shooting. The text in game was annoyingly laggy to read.

That's largely just me typing, rather than any laggyness. But the details are cracked up as much as I can put 'em, so there is some gameplay lag, regardless. When I get around to showing off some proper gameplay stuff, there won't be any text anyways, and hopefully, I'll be able to record on a better PC, to smooth the lag away.
