Server is down, possible total data loss. I hope you saved a copy, because I may or may not get everything back up there in the immediate future. And Hijinks, before you even open your mouth, STFU.

I host all my personal stuff of one of the development servers at work. We had an engineer in today upgrading our stuff and he started before I could get in and back everything up. Most of the important stuff is in CVS anyway, but I lost quite a bit of clanstfu.com and orbitalstrike.com.
It's not the ISP, and it could be that I will be able to salvage the data, but as of right now I lost about 12 hours of work related stuff and about 40 hours of personal shit. I need to do something besides post while I wait, I'm getting crankier by the second :(

Apparently the server crashed before the upgrade even started today and the drive is unrecoverable. So I don't feel so bad about going to lunch instead of running a backup.
The good news is that my new dev server has a RAID 5 stripe for my data and a mirrored set for SQLServer and the transaction logs. If only it had been up and running yesterday instead of today :(
The second good news is that I have some old copies of some of the db scripts and even a few of the applications still open in textpad.
Oh well, c'est la vie. Tomorrow we get to talk recovery plan.

Remember: Backing up is GOOD!
and my sig is hosted on my POS host so haha.

Hardware restored.
System restored.
DB & Web Server installed and configured.
Application Server installed and configured.
Sig and image content restored.
I still have to rewrite all the pages from the sites, but things could be much worse.
