So I've been playing for a week now and I'm trying to get my feel back for the game, but many things have changed :)

The Lasher, does it still lash?

For as far as I can tell, the lasher clip size seems to have grown by 10 rounds along with an AP mode. The bold animation looks different and faster but I could be mistaken about that. But I don't seem get a fix on if the Lasher still lashes or if it has been removed completely.

It does still lash, but only about 3 damage.

I didn't think it did myself for the first fortnight I was resubbed and actually had to go to VR to test that it actually did.

VR training grounds, forgot all about those. Will have a look for my self.
Back in the old days for what I recall of the Lasher, the lash gave the gun it's edge when shooting it down a corridor or having it's round zip by a tree and still lash out.

Yeah, its a poor reflection of its former self.

Lasher needs to lash effectively.

The problem is, its already way too OP indoors. You cant take a base from the VS, and they can take bases much easier. Those narrow hallways are just death with lasher spam. You cant take cover cause due to the lash and orb size you get hit even behind crates or hiding just around corners. As much fun as it is to not lose bases when on my vs toons, its boring and when on my nc or tr chars we just leave when vs come to fight the other faction, waste of time tryin to beat the lasher indoors.

Its prob one of the last out of balance things in PS honestly. They've done a good job with most everything else, barring the very few exceptions of course.

Honestly it prob needs a redesign. The lash has to go period. And any damage the gun does must still hit friendlies. (lash doesnt hit friendlies atm) If it cant be used near friendlies wihtout too much friendly fire, then its prob too easy to hit enemies. Also the collision point of the orbs would have to be set on the outside of the ball not the center, so it doesnt pass thru corners and crates and hit people taking cover. Takin cover is whats fun about the game, forcing a zerg rush at vs is dull and makes balancing the weapons indoors vs wider spaces near impossible.

There are a ton of options for the gun on a redesign. And i think it would be very cool to see what someone could come up with.

The simplest one would be remove the lash (yeah just rename it already), fix the collision point on the orbs as mentioned above. Then speed up the travel speed of the orbs. That would allow you to hit what you are aiming at better and reduce the tactic now of "who cares what you aim at, just spam it and you will get everyone eventually." It would help with accuracy a ton and limit the lame and really skilless aspects of the lash, the orbs passing thru things and the retarded spammage. Damage could prob stay the same (never know til ya test it tho), clip size might need tweaked a bit down to accomodate the more accurate style of fighting rather than the large spammage style it has now. Thats the simplest revamp to balance it. But there are a billion others. I know i have been thinkin of a ton of other really cool alien tech ideas.

The cool thing about VS, you can do alot more futuristic things, gives you a ton more options for cool new toys. :D

Yes. And it needs to lash friendlies, so you spamming n00bs don't get an unfair advantage. It lashes you well enough in the hands of a trained Terran Republic commando, but your buddies should be leery of lighting each other up without any penalties.

Honestly the lash is as good as gone already.

Lasher is still godlike when massed. It sucks in 1v1's of equal skill unless you get lucky, but how often do you have 1v1's?

Thats so full of shit, Everyone hates on a different MA and thats how its always going to be

I could say that the JackHammer is overpowerd because at close range I cant even get 3 shots off before am dead.

I could say that the MCG is Overpowerd because the ROF bloom doesn't start till the 13th shot as where My first shot only will trival 35m then start spreading out.

VS Lasher is so poorly designed as a weapon because there ORBS there not fast moving projectals for the damage they do. you wanna Avoid a VS lasher just move back and forth as everyone else does to pawn us.

Try hitting the MCG user and his COF will bloom. the only thing wrong with the lasher currently is its COF and for some people its hit registry.

Don't Get me wrong I can see the down points to using each MA as well. Like you said Jackhammer is useless at ranges higher then 20m (hell 15m) but if your sneeky and let that vs/tr come down that hall way while your hiding behind a door soon as they step though Bam bam bam (3/4 shots? non trip mode) but being caught out side you better have your trusty gus with you lol.

MCG there tiny bits of damage per hit so it takes alot more to really kill someone but at the same time those first 13 shots if you make them count then you have a dead NC/VS on our hand

Lasher well Pretty much said what i think about the lasher (they increased orb speed i know and incrassed Clip size and gave it an AP mode) thats all fine and dandy but i can still watch as my orb flys right next to someone instead of where wanted it too go =/

Have been playing for a full month now and I’m back to my old trades, looting JH and MCG swapping out my Lasher. As rusty as I am, it amazes me that I’m racking up more kills and have a better survivability as when I’m holding a lasher.

Laser 4.0 as I believe it`s called now is a royal pain in the butt, now that it has a weak lash effect.
I used to recall the old days, where you could fire a few bolt up a staircase, get a hit effect, indicating a 3rd person camera corner humper was laying in ambush. Fire a few more rounds to see if he was still there and work your way up. It was that initial damage you could deal with lash effects that reduced your opponent health/armor to the point that when you went toe to toe the fight would be more balanced.

As much as I’ve screamed for faster orbs, I’m already missing the original lasher

To answer the Title. Yes, Yes it does. I do not care how much the Vanu want to cry about how it got nerfed. No weapon in this game pisses me off more then the Lasher(except for the Vanu AA max but please don't start me up there). I don't care how powerful it used to be, it still fucking lashes.

Why am I the only person who has no issue with the lasher when using it? I went 13 / 1 last week with it. Not that you can't do the same with a JH and MCG but it was still a joke.

Most people in this game would do better with the lasher since they can't aim to save their life.

Boo hoo, you can't (effectively) kill people you can't see with it any more. Now it actually functions as a heavy assault and not special assault / heavy assault hybrid.

As to you being better with JH / MCG.. you could always try, you know, leading with the lasher???

Well excuse me for pointing out a unique trade of the "lasher" to "lash" at targets around corners, a unique weapon trade that I've learned to us and love over the 5~6 years that I played planetside non stop.

You need to forgive him, someone of us get tired of being consistently being killed entirely around a corner without even seeing whose shooting at is with little way to combat it.

Three damage per shot is still a pretty good chunk of armor for not hitting a single shot.

Heavy Assault should never double as special assault.
