View Full Version : Enlarged Landing Pads.

As the title suggests I think they should include enlarged landing pads. That way there aren't Gunships blocking doors or exits. The current ones are nearly useless. I cant land anything more then a mosquito on there and be able to get back in.

Unless landing pads have shrunk or changed locations, then you're doing it wrong. I can land a Mossie, Reaver or Liberator on any landing pad and still get back in. It's a matter of proper positioning.

I also mean in terms on getting everyone in the gunship at the same time. I can land it where I can get in but other cant. I usually just land on the ground inside the base but I hate having to shuffle around when I am in peoples way. especially when there is a lot of people in one base. It would just be a nice added touch.

So Reavers and Mossies don't have a problem, then. For the Liberator, the pilot has to pull forward to the point where the pilot's entry circle is almost about to fall off the pad. Use third-person and swivel around to adjust the view and check.

I want big galaxy sized landing pads, with equipment terminals in barracks next tot he, where outfits can sort themselves out and load up into them.

Slap a shield over the top if OS strikes are in PS2.

Actually that does sounds pretty cool. Or if not all that atleast just make some preparations like armor and weapons load out. Or give you a chance to change out ordinance on your galaxy or bomber.

There is no reason why a bomber should be restricted to only one set or type of bomb.

If you check out Dropship Centres you will see that they have a ramp leading up to the bay where the aircraft spawn; originally it was intended that the aircraft stayed on the pad until you got in to pilot it, and then all the other passengers could load up there as well, along with the vehicles in the back of the gal.

Air towers. We used to bring a Galaxy in and load it from the air pads up top. Just for cheesecake FRAPs stuff.

True, but can you imagine a dropship centre with multiple pads arranged around its structure all with galaxies being loaded up as a raid forms?

Not really, no. That would require all of those people to go to the dropship center. Only the pilots would, then they would go pick up their compatriots.

And it wouldn't be a picturesque scene with everyone getting an uplifting pep talk while in formation followed by an orderly run to their assignaed gal. It would be a bunch of spam telling people to get onboard, and people running every which a way, back and forth between as they find out a gal is full, or trying to get one of the gunner spots.

Its best accompanied by the benny hill theme song.

I really wish if someone in your platoon / squad pulled a galaxy in the base/tower's SOI you were in you could go into the spawn tubes and decon into it. It's always a pain in the ass to land it, get everyone in without being run over by other friendlies.

That is another reason why mentioned the larger pads. Keeping people out of the high traffic ground troops way. It is annoying to have to shuffle around.

Um... Liberators have tank-buster and anti-personnel fragmentary bombs.

lol I am not quiet sure where I was going there, I just reread that comment and I cant remember for the life of me why I said that.

I think I was trying to say there should be a better load-out screen not load-out in-general. Something More Streamlined and better represented.

This was a really cool idea that never really made it's way very far sadly :(

Turned out they needed to add a queuing system because of the vehicle spawn spam it was rough before that queue system was in place.

Maybe they could make it so the Galaxy could kind of 'tractor beam' up passengers if it's hovering say 10 - 15 ft off the ground? I think that would solve a lot of issues....

I sure don't want to see a lame spin-off of a great old PS:1 Old Forum discussion of gunships. I sure do not want to see the Galaxy Gunship ever again. Lame shit...

Thats what I thought as well...

Id rather see someone spray paint a white "H" on the ground and do that thing with the glow sticks!

Why not keep it as it is in PS2 where a bad pilot will lose half the health from landing? I didn't see a single one manage to land an aircraft without hurting it even if it wasn't a galaxy. Then actually good pilots will be really attractive

In the demos shown there was a bug where vehicles were taking too much damage from terrain collision. It will be gone by release.

Even at E3?

Even at E3?

Yes, in fact that is where (I think it was Margaret?) answered that particular concern in response to observations made during the E3 demo.

I can confirm that when I played it was just about impossible to land an air vehicle.. It would explode almost every time.

Also this is a massive thread necro.

I think there is a new thread talking about this. Either way landing should require skill but not be impossible.

Cheers,

i got no problems landing a phantasm on the landing pads, wich is bigger than a lib

nothing like going in 200, taking a few secs to break and land instantly, no fuzzing about
