Well I have to ask...is it? Could it be that planetside next is just a SOE ploy to get people back playing a dieing game like planetside.

"No chance" I hear you say, but .... what proof do we have that it is being near beta or for that matter even in development.

Sure the head of SOE made a twit about it and a statement in eurogamer but tbh where is the proof?. Even that information given by mr smedly himself is a little criptic and open to debate.

As for the so called screenies ..pfffft. Nothing more than concept art that anyone with coraldraw can do.

Show me ingame screenies or a vid. Show me a launch timetable. Show me a website with details of the "new" game. Show me anything except damn concept artwork.

I want this game so bad but I am having a real hard time believing the beta will be out in march.

Noone knows anything about it for christ sake. Never have I seen agame shrouded in secrecy just before it's release.

So I ask again ....Vaporware or not??

No. I doubt it. if they did, they were both evil and immensely stupid at the same time. Not only because it makes sense to re-release a great one of a kind game like Planetside in this age of MMOs, but also because they'd piss off a huge portion of their customer base AND lose all credibility to anyone who has read about this.

Also those screenies definitely were not concept art, they were 3d models, granted they were probably not ingame, they were still very much so 3d models.

Big-name publishers take their reputation very seriously. And whilst it's common for a video game to be pushed back, particularly an MMO, it's *NOT* common for a publisher to say "Yeah we're making this game, honest!" and then later on say "Oh. Yeah, um. About that. Our developer, she's from Canada, you've never met her..."

Last time I checked Smedley said there would be some announcement at end march / early q2 reguarding ps:n ( purely a working name) . I see the few artwork drawings so far as a simple lip service to long standing ps subscribers . He didnt need to show any , I think he did it to just show that there was something soon on the horizon.

You just need to be patient , that's weeks away so have fun playing the game as is. What if theres an announcement , then some beta planned and for some reason you aren't invited to participate? Will you accept that or demand that you were promised you would be in beta if you re-subscribed?

Your original post didn't encourage debate, it encouraged a flurry of attacks upon your intelligence. Practically nobody here believes PS:N is a hoax. In fact I daresay you're the only one. Encouraging debate is fine - half these pipe-dream threads about how we would change the game if we were but SOE developers are debates on various features that might/might not be a good idea. But to come in here and suggest it's a big revenue-draw hoax, and then flip your script and say you think it's coming, and THEN say you were just encouraging debate? Yeah. We called bullshit.
