Lots of people are convinced that you lose CEp and BEP when you take down the generator. I want proof of this. Or even an understanding of how the CEP works.

The only loss there might be is the potential for witnessing less kills which reduces the xp value of the cap.

CEP and BEP rewards for base hacks is dependant on the number of (unique?) kills in the 15 minutes before and the 15 minutes while the base is being hacked.
So by taking out the tubes and gen you limit the amount of fighting that can go on in the bases SOE (unless the defenders bring AMSs or similar), so the hack XP is reduced.

Which basically means you don't lose all that much, since the unique kills only happen once in the entire 30 minute period.
People whining about losing xp are probably not whining about cap xp. Just killwhore xp.

That is what i assumed. People are crying about that extra 15 BEP from killing standard suits. So no extra CEP and BEP from the cap if tubes are taken or the gen so long as there are no more unique kills within the SOI. i.e. We are fighting the same 30 guys in the SOI and killing them over and over. We reach a max BEP and CEP cap based on your squads amount of BEP accumulated within the SOI (So long as they are unique, aka a new person to kill.)

My rule of thumb is (except for Bio Labs), if you get to the point you can blow the gen (assuming you don't need the base to be able to supply you during the hack) or kill the tubes, do it. No reason to draw out a battle, the defenders will just repair if they can anyway.
And if you are referring to killing the gen and/or tubes in a base already locked down, it has no effect on cap xp that is significant.

I thought "unique kills" meant the same player doesn't kill the same guy 2x in a a row.

Nope, you get one unique kill credit for each enemy player that dies (when you are also in the SOI) in the SOI over the span of 15 minutes+hack. Only exception is LLU radius also gets that credit.
If NCHamma kills, TReaper, VSocialite, and accidentally TKs NCoulter in the SOI of a base about to be or already hacked, he and every friendly in the SOI at the time of the kill gets two unique kill credits for that hack. If he farms TReaper at his AMS he gets no more unique kill credit, but someone who didn't already have it would pick it up.

So, in short, credit for kills demands that you be in the SOI when the guy gets killed that you weren't in the SOI for when he got killed the first time.
Which is why I have always gotten hosed for CEP because I am usually the one ferrying AMSes to the base. I'm not in the SOI enough to be there for the unique kills.

Basically yes, but the squad has its own effect on it. Each member has to witness enough unique kills for the SL to get the max CEP.

So the squad having ten members instead of what I thought the "maximum CEP number" was of eight members or more is actually useful?

Both yes and no. It is an average of the entire squad, but the upper limit is what changes with more members. It would be easier to get CEP capped with a two or three man squad, but that wont necessarily be more CEP than the squad with nine members, three of whom show up late or are doing stuff out of the SOI.
Air Cav pilots are big issues in the CEP grind part of the game because they tend to be out of the SOI most of the time.
