Any news on SOE or PS2 is having a booth on PAX? Didnt found anything so far.
Twitter is running HOT!! ...but totally NOTHING about Planetside: Next :(

We don't know for a fact that they are not hiding behind the Sony booth, waiting to make a big announcement.

SOE has no booth, they won't be making announcements from Sony's booth.

Was it supposed to be April? I remember hearing the game was supposed to have launched by now in March lol.

But yeah at this point I think something must have changed an they are going back into media blackout mode. I would settle down an wait for E3. An if something happens an they surprise us then great.

Late 1st quarter, early 2nd...which would be sort of march though april-ish

No. The only people saying "It's launching in March" are the know-nothings who don't work for SOE, translating an interpretation of what someone reported that Smedley said.

The way *I* interpreted what Smedley said was that in Q1-Q2, they'd be making some sort of announcement. And even if they were launching something in March, it's only March the 12th. Ergo, we have another 19 days before March is over and done.

Smedley said that it was going to LAUNCH in March. Not "be announced," but actually be launched. The two are not the same. You can't really launch something without telling people about it at least a week in advance...

I Just checked and you are right ..he did say launch in March.
"We have a very big launch coming in the month of March," Smedley said. "It's a big first person shooter franchise that we're really happy with." This is a direct quote from him hence the quotation marks. If it wasn't I'm sure SOE's lawyers would be on it already.
So the president of SOE said in MARCH. This in no way can be misinterpreted. When pressed he pretty much admittted PS and said marketing would have his head.

So Then SOE say Q1-Q2 but never forget Smedley is the COE so I am sure he has some inside knowledge lol.

So I can see why people are getting anxious as there are only a limited amount of days left in March. And I can understand why people would say Smedly lied about a launch because it's more lilkly going to be a beta. I'm sure he knows the difference between a beta release and a launch. If he doesnt how the hell did he get to CEO.

Okay so it got pushed back. This happens to every company. Development gets exponentially more time consuming as you get closer to release because it's hard to make a change without breaking something else. Be patient. It will be released when it is ready. I'd rather have a great game in 6+ months than a piece of shit now. What good is having PSN this month if it's unfinished and the playerbase drops out?

We all know what happens to rushed job MMOs, they fall apart at the seams and then will never get a fan base back to play the game no matter what is offered.

I wouldn't darken the doorstep of a Funcom game again after aborted hatchet job they did with AoC.

Pretty sure even what John has said has been rather vague. Sure he mentioned some Quarters but that could easily change.

Yes I am. Stop being pedantic about what's been said by Smedley. It's people like you, running around telling everyone else that Smedley said Planetside is coming out on a specific date, that fucks up the whole thing for everyone else.

Stop being a dick. I am replying to a post with facts. I didn't make this shit up, it is posted everywhere on reliable web sites. And how exactly am I fucking anything up? Do you have some privilaged info we don't know about ? If smed says it, then it WILL be reported everywhere regardless of what anyone here thinks.

Exactly. The only thing we know for sure (what SOE has said for the record) is that Next is in development. There is a FPS game they are happy with that they will be making an announcement about sometime during the first quarter of this year (which means anytime between Jan. 1 and April 1st and when asked point blank if it was PS Next, Smed replied with "could be". That is what we know and in the real world, as I know it, you can believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.
I want Next to come out as badly as anyone else does. However... I dont hang on every rumor or try to twist what anyone says to make it what I want it to be. I hope PS Next comes out this month but until I actually play it, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. We all know if/when it comes out we will most likely be sleep deprived. ;)
