Did a decent job with DCUO. Where is PS:N's love?

The game hasn't even been officially announced yet.

Good enough?

Regardless of the above post, I don't think they have one!

I think its pretty safe to assume that the game will be officially announced Q1/2 with a website if we are lucky, then it will follow the usual waiting until it actually gets released.

Again, if we are lucky we may get it released this year rather than next.

We'll be lucky if this game gets released.

By released I mean marketing, commercials, hype, and then the day where it comes out being a big day at gamestop/such. Not just: uhh hey guys, we made this game and its open now. shhh dont tell anyone.

I'd guess the reason DCUO had great marketing was they likely had financial backing from DC comics and Warner Brothers Games.

Planetside has no extra love outside of SOE.

Those trailers with DCU are incredible if you ask me. I would be impressed if PS:N had anything similar trailer wise even a few notches below that.

I agree. Those trailers were awesome!

I hope PS:N gets a CGI trailer this time.

Hell, i bought DCUO just because of the spectacular commercials and trailer. If it did not have those i would never know the game existed.

I don't think it's fair to compare DC with PS. The DC intellectual property is a little more well known and has a few more resources behind it than the Planetside "franchise".

If there is a trailer for PS:N that even comes close to the DCUO trailer, you will fucking die. Your fucking heads will explode and your bodies will melt into a goo of blood and sperm. SOE is just looking out for our health.

Im thinking an EVE style trailor would be epic, anyone remember the "scope" news blurps they did for one of the expansions? That was epic.

If we had something like field footage coming up for a couple mins of the Terran Republic storming a New Conglomerate (the fact that spell check isn't bitching about my spelling of that makes me worried since im sure i fucked it up) battle line, with the Vanu Suddenly coming in on an air raid or something, then at the end the camera gets killed by an EMP or something worse and it just cuts to the logo and release date.

BAM! everyone's heads explode and SOE sees the greatest sales ever as the survivors run to nearest store and get in like 3 months before it comes out.

EVE has always done an awesome job with their trailers.

Orbita Strike or bust :D

For reference look up that new EVE/Dust514 video. Our trailer needs to be about 20% cooler!

If the trailer was just Planetside: Next fading in, playing the old soundtrack I would still probs cream myself

Think I just saw 3 pigs flying past my window on their way to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

I saw bigfoot being abducted by aliens, but that's nothing new...

I think having some banners around gaming sites or even Xfire might get people just to look into it, ive had games peak my interest just because of a cool looking GIF or screenshot. Most of them were crap, but hey at least i had played the game for an hour and seen what it was like.

The only reason i ever heard of this game was because i saw a forum post about how the game i was playing (NavyField) should have a perpetual style of game play, where the "battle" really never ends.

I bet there is actual advertising for this round. Especially after how successful the DCUO one was. Although, you can't give SOE the credit for the actual trailer, because Blur studios made it. Who also made these trailers (http://vz2.blur.com/work)... So, as long as they use Blur's services again, we should be in for a treat.

I'm actually working on a fan-made mini-movie that'll end with something that says "PLANETSIDE... NEXT?" or something similar.

On a serious note if you look at the CCP EVE adverts they usually highlight two things one is scale and the second is choice. This is normally wrapped around a story but highlights only one or two aspects of the sand box which is done to a wide audience.

They never show the grind or the dull 2 hours leading up to a kill. They highlight action and sizzle which everyone who plays EVE knows is there but is spread out and often spoiled by lag.

I would love Sony to go down a similar line and deliver adverts of a similar nature. Show the greater game but highlight one aspect which a player can fill. Show the greater game but tease out the story of a grunt, cloaker (assassin), armour, air cav in the game and highlight the scale of PS. Show the impact of the role on the wider battle and the fact that in PS all things are equal and anyone can turn the tide of war.

PS does not have the grind EVE does it is action all the way and has a similar dependency on team work which is why a lot of people stay with EVE.

Make the adverts right and they will come and personally I think with PS more will stay as you don't need 5 000 000 SP to be useful.
