Who gets into beta question.

Just wondering and curious if someone will ask the panel about the beta.

The question: Do all players who played over the years get into the beta without subscription?

Basically, I'm just making sure someone is going to ask this question. I'm sure someone will, but I just want reassurance.

I need to know if I should subscribe anytime soon to get into the beta.

They said early on that people with subs would be given preferential treatment for beta invites. So you might want to have an ACTIVE sub, because they didn't specify anything more than that. So... we don't actually know if they meant "Has Had A Sub At One Point" or "Has Active Sub".

Which is why he is asking whether somebody at the press conf can ask the question to clear it up :P
Because in the press conference he said something like "Make sure to check whether your planetside account has an up to date email if you haven't used it for awhile" or at least it was said somewhere. Which makes me think they consider old PS players as well.

Well this is my thought process behind it:
The central aspect behind Planetside is to have thousands of players on at a time in a large scale battle/battles. Considering this, Sony is going to need a lot of people in the beta in order to fully test it. Since there aren't a whole lot of people playing Planetside at the moment, it's likely that we will all get a beta invite. Where else would they go?

If you read the FAQ it says to "make sure you're e-mail addresses are current on your SOE account." Which leads me to believe that yes the people that are currently subbed will be the first with Beta invites, but also past accounts will somehow be included.

If they want people for a beta then yes they should prioritise current and previous players but I imagine that applying for a beta will be more a case of going to planetside2.com and filling in a form.

Personally I would prefer the latter as I have lost access to my old SOE account and also the email account I used to setup my said SOE account with, which would mean that even though I played Planetside for many years I would not be eligible for early access.

I wonder how many people interested in Planetside 2 are in the same boat as I am?

I'm sure you can contact SOE customer support and tell them the login (account name) and the email address, and the account details, and try to regain access.

They keep emphasizing thousand man armies and bigger battles than PS1. They're going to need to stress test with thousands in beta. I'm betting they will do one of those "preorder and get into beta" deals that are so popular nowadays.
