View Full Version : Things you'd like to see in Planetside 2 Store?

Since they've talking about being able to purchase in game items with real money, what kind of things would you like to see?

Custom Outfit Skins: One thing I'd LOVE to see is customized outfit armor and vehicle skins. Now these would have to be customized through like an in game tool that an outfit leader could use to design with, and would have to still be in keeping with the spirit of the empire in terms of colors and overall structure. But imagine your entire Infantry outfit in unique, matching armor that would make you recognizable to the enemy, or a column of customized tanks.

I think that it should also require an expenditure of outfit points also so that they aren't just being bought by any old outfit, but by outfits that earn them. They could include a way for each member of the outfit to chip in on the cost of course.

Dress Uniforms : Empire specific dress uniforms for those times you aren't in combat and want to show off. They could display any in game medals or achievements you might have, as well as your BR/CR and maybe even outfit rank. It would have no armor value, and maybe at most a single pistol slot.

Custom Weapon Skins: Maybe you want a Nickle Plated Repeater, or a Desert Camo Sniper Rifle? I'd love to see them available.

I definately want to see location appropriate cammo on armour and guns. All white outfits charging over an Easimr like cont please.

What about sound packs so your vehicle could have a unique (as in 2 to 4 per vehicle to choose from) sound to other people (some sound more menacing some more 'stealth')?

Oh yeah also different styles of helmets and other bits of armour would be nice. Maybe a nice wing for your prowler or some side skirts for your vanguard? I still like those neons they put under cars - apparently that went out of fashion or something? Pimped out Marauder....

Time codes, UI skins and the ability to "gift" whatever they sell to another person, in the same way you can "gift" a game to someone in Steam.

I think the key with the customizable stuff will be to keep it within the context of the game, and not add silly shit.

1. ONLY stuff that changes your look a bit. If there would be anything that remotly affects gameplay, im gone.
2. The option to disable all that crap. I dont want my framerate to drop low just because you hippys had to buy the new straw hats.

Clientside hit detection, seriously.

I thought fps developers long established that client side hit boxes were a poor idea, mainly due to exploits and hacks. Lag would also play to peoples advantage as well I would imagine.

I'm not really sure what i'd like to see on the store, i'm not entirely sure they would put anything on that I would deem worth it. I guess its a case of seeing what they come up with.

It's not so much what I want, but what I don't want.

I don't want any game breaking items. Be it weapons or armor.

I don't want any items that are out of the games theme. I.E. dinosaur heads or bright pink armor or a pet turtle.

I don't want any items that "boost" your XP gain.

Some might disagree with the third but I'm really against anything at all that could even give you the slightest advantage. Cash shop needs to merely be cosmetic or be pertaining to your account (i.e. character renames (It would kind of suck to have them cost money but they'd make loads on it) server transfer, outfit rename etc.)

Outfit patches that could be placed on armor/helmets ala navy seals. Upload a small .png file, SOE approves it, and you've got a Jolly Roger on your helmet. Oh, and dibs.

bright pink armor

You know your ALMOST there already right?

Also I don't see how gaining XP fast is an 'advantage' they get to deploy a liberator a hour before you on the first day of beta/launch? Wheres the problem?

I'd say no weapons/armor.

Just customisation stuff that makes sense. No gold plated junk, ect.

The only problem I see with hats is that players have helmets on and if what I'm imagining exists, where players can upgrade their helmets to protect against headshots, then there's a visual cue that can't be covered up.

I'm hoping for pets with clothing options. (Put a little vanu suit on a bird. Get an eye patch and we can finally have some pirateside). I'm with CViolet's idea.

Yes hopefully it will be.

Hopefully they will make you earn it. It's one thing I really used to like about MMOs. When WoW first came out everything you did in that game was a grind. Made you earn it and Learn it well.

Now it's all about catering to noob players.

I hope this game will make me feel good for working for something. No other mmo does right now. Planetside was the best with it.

Getting CR5 early in planetside's life made you feel really damn good about yourself. Well atleast for me

I always fear "Game Stores", however...

I'd like to see, for those that cert into it, REAL Flight Suits for Pilots. Tanker uniforms for the ground pounders ect..ect..

I want people to see me, prior to going into combat and know "Pilot".

It just takes me out of game when I see someone in heavy armor jump into a mosquito...

I see alot of people mentioning things that should be re thought. smoke trials for aircraft? diffrent sounds for vehicles "some that sound more stealthy"

both of those items would be a direct gameplay effecting thing. the ability to blind enemies or sneak up better should not be bought, no game effecting item should be sold.

and i agree with an above poster, i want the option to disable and customized objects. i want ps, not a rainbow parade of particle effects.

FastAndFree

You can't blind other aircraft with a smoke trail because they can just fly next to your trail.

I guess you could do something with it at ground level, fine then make it so you can only use it over a certain altitude. The idea was to show off, not to have a useful tool :)

My sole care is that, if there are to be subs, the item shop sells only cosmetic items. I don't care if I pay for the game through a sub or through buying upgrades/advancements from an item shop, so long as its one or the other. I don't want to be paying a sub AND feel pressured to buy stuff from a shop to compete.

i want to be able to buy a reflex sight for my rifle -_- fucking hate ironsights

Same. If we must have aim down the barrel play, I wish they'd recognize its the future and ditch the iron sights. They obscure too much.

If people want to pay $200.00 to hack a game, then get banned, well that would be pretty funny.

off topic: ive seen someone spend $1700 buying "gold" in a game called puzzle pirates just to get banned the next day.

on topic: EXP boosts are OK, the only thing is they can only be available after X time. (maybe 6 months or however long it takes to max out 1 skill tree) so its not the XP boost people are getting ahead, its the XP boost people are catching up.

Other things: it all must be in theme, it all must be fairly priced.(IE: 20$ for sunglasses is not fairly priced) and I still think the PPM method is the best right now.

I wonder how far they can go with character customization while still keeping the overall theme of an empire?

I think they could go along way, obviously all the armout would have to have some form of the empires primiary and seconadry colours, and an optional black in NC and VS, and not much in the way of other colours.

But there is so many options for helms, shoulders, different chests, belts, knee and shinpads along with armpads, gloves, blackpacks, then offcourse you have facial stuff like glasses.

heres somes examples from global agenda , obviously in PS2 each empires armour would be unique though.

I don't doubt the possibilities and enjoy the prospect, however I think it was stated in one of those panel videos that players would be able to tell empires and classes apart just from the look, how much room could that possibly allow unless those cosmetic items are class-theme based?

How much can really be changed while still being able to tell what class is what? This is just a curious thought I had, please don't take it as literal :D

Obviously their art team is handled by a very creative and charasmatic fellow, interesting to see what solution they have for this.

well the same as what i said still applied, in that link is 2 classes, from global agenda, the enginner and the rogue..?...whatever it is. I cant find a good one for global agendas medic, but the variations of that are amazing.

Other than goggles for the TR players, I'd like some glasses for my VS character. Just regular non-polarized glasses.

I thought of the best store item. You know how we'll be having more emotes. I want a victory emote. Character pulls out a cigar and strikes a match against his armor and goes "Gotta try harder than that." The best part is the cigar stays in your characters mouth for a few minutes.

I know some players might hate them, but there's got to be some taunting emotes.

Depending on what we can buy I strongly agree with this. If everything people can buy fits the feel of the game and just allows NC to have a different shapes helmet or gives TR some slightly different goggles then never mind, but otherwise...

As long as they keep the general color theme of the empires I am good with it.

Cool things that could in the store is custom animated emotes or armor that has a different design(Global Agenda is a good example here minus the colors).

Custom outfit logos and some customization to the color scheme as long as you are still able to see that the character is a NC/TR or VS soldier.

customising colours would work fine so long as each empire only had a certain colour palatte,
TR would get blacks and reds and greys
NC would get yellows blues and greys
VS would get purples and teals

Then it's more a question of where you put they colours, they did it in PS1 with the armour changing at each level anyway

Could easily divide the armour into sections and allow each one to be coloured however the player wants

Looking at the MAX suits, each empire's colour palette seems to have grown somewhat. I was going to suggest bronze additions, but then I saw the orange on TR and VS, and the industrial browns/greys on NC.
