I realize that in all likelihood the vehicles in PS2 will be direct copies or off-shoots of PS1 vehicles, but they really should consider making the vehicles open cabin. You dont have to necessarily be able to move inside (although manually running and jumping out of a gal when the cargo door opens sounds awesome), but simply being able to look around inside the vehicle as in PS1 AND also do some sort of interaction with that vehicle. Whether that interaction is shooting your gun out the window or interacting with an equipment box that is in the vehicle. I mean wouldnt it be nice to get into the vehicle as a passenger and unload or grab some ammo in/into the glove box/center console/container under seat without having to get out, or take out a med app and attend to your wounds while en route? Would definitely give you something to do besides praying you are not going to blow up or planning when to bail and run.

I think this would cause many balancing issues as the devs will have to tweak the vehicle with every possible combination of weapons. For example, the deliverer right now only has 1 type of weapon (if we ignore the empire versions). If the vehicle is too weak or too strong, they can easily change the damage per shot or the armour of the vehicle. On the other hand, if you could use your own weapon while being inside the vehicle, balancing becomes much harder as you cannot just decrease or increase the firepower of the weapons being used.
All the weapons that are given to infantry as designed in such a way that there are up and downsides to them. For example the sniper is powerful, but you need to sit still in order to hit someone and as you are sitting still, you are easily a target by other snipers. If you were able to use the sniper rifle inside this deliverer, you will not be as vulnerable anymore, while you should be, as this is one of the designed downsides of a sniper.

To an extent I see your point, however there are other ways to alter a vehicle's effectiveness besides decreasing the dps of the guns. Reduced speed, armor, and handling can all reduce a vehicles efficacy without changing dmg output.
If one was to use a gun while shooting out of a window your CoF would be huge, which would make sniper rifles of little use, also a slight CoF increase while in the vehicle and not moving just to prevent what you mentioned.
The idea is still possible without unbalancing the game, and I for one think it would be a whole hell of a lot of fun.
P.S. i really hope they add rivers, cyssor + deli's = fun

To your first point about that there are other factors that can be changed to balance things out I have got this to say: When you change for example the speed or armor of the vehicle, you will change the balance of every possible combination of weapons with this vehicle. If say somehow the MCG in combination with this vehicle is too strong, you cannot then change the armour of the vehicle as this will also affect all other weapons that are possibly used while aboard this vehicle.
If the CoF would bloom to extreme proportions when you are in this vehicle, I do not think anyone would use their own weapons, as they can hardly hit anyone with a large CoF, high speed and side way view (assuming that you can only shoot out of the sides, if you are in some kind of dome on top of the deli, then the last point does not matter)
What I was mostly worried about is that the sniper can drive up hills, and use the deli as some kind of bunker where he can only be hurt by air, because the sniper will be too far for AV to damage the deli and other snipers cannot hurt vehicles.

the whole point of a deliverer is to transport troops SAFELY. if you make it an open cabin so people can shoot out of it, they wont be safe anymore

being a passenger is boring. the vehicle guns put out more dmg anyways and would be prefered over passenger slots, but give the passengers SOMETHING to do. We are trying to decrease downtime here and being transported is boring.

That would be amazing. Do want.

So you would want to shoot your pathetic pea shooter when there is a 20mm cannon on top?
Seriously tho, i see what ya mean and it could have its place but as others have said its tricky. The motion of the vehicle could act the same as if you were moving yourself. That would take care of the sniper issue and what not. Maybe an open sided chopper style transport, you hop on and can fire out hte side or jump out at any time. could be cool. Even have a mounted gun on each side to get on. Downside being you are completely open to attack. As in shots fired at you will hit you where as in other vehicles they hit the vehicle. So well placed shots could take you out instantly, esp vehicle fire.

I don't want dedicated APCs at all, but if they did exist, this would be ok.
As for balance, just have firing port weapons installed rather than the players own personal weapons.
Not that it would be that beneficial. Big unstable, bouncy firing platform, with relatively low ttk infantry weapons? You rarely get kills. BF2 did this with their APCs, had M-16 equivalent firing port weapons with infinite ammo, and kills with it were pretty rare.
It would be alright so long as only small arms/rifle sized weapons are used. Firing an AT weapon from inside a vehicle, future or not, hard to see that happen. Also, if players are allowed to fire into the vehicle as well to injure or kill players firing from inside.

I don't think I like this idea simply because Deliverers float, and I want to be able to hit the water at full speed and not sink due to open ports on either side.
Realizing it's just a game, it would be a little strange to see a Deli submerge itself running full speed and pop back up with dudes shooting out of the side like nothing happened.
Assuming characters can be killed riding vehicles, I also wouldn't want my entire crew to be killed en route because of a lucky Vanguard round. The Deliverer is named for its purpose.
