Welcome to the ignition of what might end up being a really cool idea, Project Ultimate Zombie Survival Vehicle. The idea is to design and potentially build an extreme range, durability, and utility vehicle that has special use for killing... Zombies (or liberals).
My concept is an 80s era Blazer with a swapped turbo diesel, lifted to accommodate class 8 truck tires and equipped with two or more 300 gallon tanks also from a class 8 truck. An alternate path is a Suburban with more space for living decoys... I mean fellow survivors.
What do you think and/or what would your concept be?

That's cool, but I think remaining in one place is ultimately futile, since all they will do is increase in numbers so much you can't leave.

I give you, the ARMTRAC.

You can remove the trailer, and trust me when I say that the fangs of doom on the front don't spin slowly. It can be lifted up so it's not scraping on the floor, too.
Zombie soup, anybody?

Well those are all well and good for racking up a nice killcount, but are practically worthless for anything else.

What do you mean "anything else"? If zombies are your problem, you make it so there's no more zombies. If there's no more zombies, problem solved.

Except that long before you kill all of the zombies, you will have found a problem that thing can't help you with.

Nonsense. I fully expect that thing to have wiped out all the zombies before tea time.

Consider for a moment the zombie population as a whole. Unless you are talking about a small town's few thousand zombies... I live in a city, we already have a hefty zombie population, but unfortunately they haven't given me a valid reason to shoot, impale, or crush them under the tread of my Bridgestones... yet.

The Blazer idea of the OP is nice, and actually similar to mine -
Except I propose using something more like a Ford Explorer SportTrac or a Chevy Avalanche.
Full sized cabin, good engine, but especially important is the cargo bed, which can be used for hauling larger items or upgraded to sport some sort of defensive turret (think PS1 Marauder, except bigger and badder).
The small size of the SportTrac would help in urban areas at the expense of a smaller engine - the Avalanche would be better for off-road and would have more room.
So, all told, I would go with an older Chevy Avalanche tricked out with a turret on the back and lots of armor. Not bad gas mileage, compared to the large construction and farm equipment.
Mobile, powerful, and agile - that's the key.

I drew up a concept that had an 80s era Suburban. Keep the front two bench seats as is, but chop out the roof and windows behind the rear passenger doors. An impromptu Avalanche with more room. Swap the V8 out for a Diesel (more useful power, reliability, and mileage).
Id drop in the 300 gal tanks back there along with other necessary survival gear, a roll cage, and a .50 cal autocannon turret.
