Interesting how a video game can inspire such loyalty to a fictional team.

It is, although you see plenty of "For the Horde!" kinda stuff on WoW too, PS seems to have taken it to a whole new level really.

I'm most likely going to stay NC, as I don't like the high tech theme of Vanu and TR sort of feels mainstream. I hope my APB clan has people who are willing to roll as NC and I'm likely to expand WASP Inc into PS2 as well :)

Most likely TR again. Though I've said I want to play an entirely different style than I did in PS1, so maybe I might go beyond play style and go with a completely different Empire also. Whichever I pick I'm sticking with it. Leaning TR though right now.

Well, sorta same for me. I picked NC originally from what I could gather from PSU regarding weapons and vehicles.

VS is sort of out of question for me, while PS isnt PS without the sci-fi setting, I'm not really interested in laser weapons that go pew pew. So it's basically down to TR and NC for me. TR currently has a weapon that I'm extremely jaelous about - the Cycler. That being said, I guess it's more like grass being greener on the other side as the Gauss rifle is very much my style as well.

From what I've seen from the trailer, the current weapon I expect to be the NC medium assault rifle seems to be very much my thing as well, but the TR equivalent looked pretty nifty too.

Overall I think they will be pretty equal in terms of weapons, so then it sorta just comes down on the looks of the outfit and I like the more neutral look of the NC. Also guess I've just learned the red = dead ideology while playing PS as NC so far :D

The cycler is a piece of junk, ever since I tried the punisher I've never gone back. The cycler just can't compete, the CoF blooms out of control even if you take the smallest amount of damage.

This. PlanetSide and DAoC are the only two games I've found where PvP was so intense and faction-oriented that your opponents really felt like true enemies.

I cannot stand VS and NC for no other reason than that they are not "of my kind."

I played DAoC right before PS. Fuck anyone who wasn't a Viking, seriously... I hated trying to level in DarknessFalls and a shit-ton of Hybronians came raping through

But other than my immediate hate, I have in the past made friends with players from the TR, like good pilots or snipers. "Splendid shot, my good Sir!" I'd say to a fellow where we killed each other in a crossfire of boltdrivers "Good show, Governor!" he'd reply. Fuck NC though, they're all assholes.

I'm just sad how the VS attracts all the 10-year-olds =/

I didn't mean to imply an inherent malice between individual players, more so the giant undulating mass that is the VS or NC. I've been chased down in my Wasp more than enough times by players that left me thinking, "Wow, he really worked for that kill."

What I meant was more of a subconscious feeling that VS doesn't deserve this facility, this building should belong to TR.

Probably NC, although I really do love the TR too. And VS can be fun, though I'll admit it's mainly for the Lancer and Mag. I'll definitely play all 3 somewhat.

They chased you because you were in a WASP.

From all the screenies releasesso far the TR look the best. One of the reasons i ended up switching to TR a year after release was because of how cool they looked. The black and red looks really good on all vehicles and they have the best looking Command rank gear, especially cr5 backpack.

Haha, I hear you. I use to play Midgard and I hated when the albs or hibs came raging through after seizing control of DF.

On the other hand I always kept my Shadowbladfe logged out in DF on a safe spot so when any other faction had DF I could log on and backstab some poor lowbies. Usually had a buffbot around also for some additional heals. :)

My bonedancer was also a quite fun character to own some low lvl albs with also. :D

C'mon people, keep your chin up. Just because it's a balance issue at the early stages of development/launch doesn't exclude the possibility that could NEVER be implemented into the game.

Also I like the whole rapid fire thing SOE did with the choices...better than tech or power.

I was NC in PS, but I am unsure as to what faction currently. Going to wait and see what the weaponry is on all the empires before making my final choice. The VS max looks godly and makes me want to go that faction.

I didn't really like NC from the start, but just as I was softening up to them I started reading the forums and saw all of the tools that are loyal to that faction. I should have expected that from the rebel faction though.

VS and TR FTW.

Though I normally dislike attacking inferior enemies, I can't bring myself to hate the TR enough to actively attack them. I know I will feel like I am kicking crippled puppies while going after the NC, but it just can't be helped.

NC guys can blame the devs for not making the TR detestable enough.

The Lightning is a "Common Pool" vehicle, and as such, is the same no matter what faction you choose.

The colours... I live in Roscommon Ireland, who's county colours are blue and yellow, and I hate Roscommon :/ also, the look of the faction just doesn't suit me. I've never been into the whole rebel without a cause thing

So it depends... do I wanna be a pilot most of the time or an infantryman most of the time? if I wanna fly, its TR all the way. If I wanna use infantry, its NC...

I voted undecided, as I've been between VS and NC.

I initially started liking the VS most due to their weapons in general and the Scythe. The NC came in when I saw more infantry combat. Now I'm starting to drift back toward VS since I don't like the NC's vehicles.

Yeah it is pretty much equilibrated in here but i am concerned about the results of the facebook app... NC seems really under populated, but I guess the facebook population is not extremly reliable...
Anyways I asked Higby how they plan on regulating the 3 factions population but he didn t answer..
anyone has an idea how it will work?

My default is the TR, but I have to admit the NC look appealing this time around just from aesthetics alone (armor and weapons.) If I can get my friends to play (Free to play usually gets their attention at least) I'll follow them, but I'll try hard to coax them over to the TR.

Can't say I'm too fond of the Vanu Sovereignty this time around though. I'm having a hard time figuring out where the "armor" ends and the "cloth" begins on their uniforms in PS2. I also don't feel quite the connection to their beliefs as I do with the NC or the TR.

The good part about playing a Vanu soldier, however, is that I get to look at and shoot the cooler looking factions constantly.

The original people behind the creation of the factions must be so proud. To great such a perfect division is extremely difficult, ESPECIALLY among more than 2, and further, especially for an odd number. Look at the poll. Those numbers are the result of masterwork.

TR and it growling daily, And thou about 2 weeks ago i'd have said different, but my 2nd choice be Vanu, A lot of the NC player base rub me the wrong way, really have there Faction goggles on tight. At least i can talk to a vanu player on a none biased level.

I think part of it is that the NC are seen as posers by both sides and the stuff they say only increases that identity. With the TR and VS being so opposite it doesn't leave as much to argue about so the animosity is made up for on the battlefield.

If there is one thing that will cause me to deter from my original plans it's a TR guy mowing people down with a chaingun. Logic be damned when an unjust society takes life so recklessly with such a savage weapon.

I think it's really interesting that it's such a tight 33% split. At time of writing, TR: 32.1 NC: 30.63, VS 32.35 with undecided the remaining 5%

Keep this in mind when you see the population of PS1 is usually 40% NC, 35% TR and VS a lowly 25%. (Worst I've seen it is 8% when 666th devil dogs was having an event against some big TR mob)

So this poll is really only about the elite, veteran, quality people who are outfit leaders and senior members of outfits.
