Now that is a map a commander can really wrap his head around.

No lattice links in PS2 remember. Warpgates will be less important.

Or perhaps they will be more important as the uncapturable footholds...

PS1 didn't have a lattice when it started out either; it was added for good reason...

because you could just hack anything. That's not the case anymore.

They've already talked about how they were trying to promote a front line while allowing behind the lines action by means of hacking/capture timers based on the number of adjacent friendly hexes.

I hope they use a map that is more like the original from PS but has the features from the map that was put in after the bending. I also hope they have it perfect with no lines going in random directions.

I always did like the original map, what with being one world instead of planetoids. That and the no lattice thing. I liked being a spec ops squad countering the behind the lines hacks.

Even though they hav removed the lattice on continents the wargates may still function like the old lattice and only link to certain continents and you may have to have the hexs around the warfare to use it yo broadcast.

Maybe not the best screenshot example.

I hope to have a normal map this time around for sure.

I think they (SOE) know that none of the community liked how it changed from a single planet to many. We lost the sense of global conquest, and I think they realised this.

yeah i would really like to go back to the continatal idea and not the planetary one. it was just kind of silly.

as for warp gates, i think they will become majorly importent. with no hart drop theres only one way onto a cont, and it can be contested. if you can seal the enemies uncap bases/warpgates then you can win a fight before it starts.

I liked the new sky boxes of the shattering... errr the sundering.... I mean warping... whatever. I liked the skyboxes but I didn't like the lack of feeling like you were fighting for a whole planet (rather than a tiny bit of one).

One True Map please.

(and then other planets in the future have one big map for that planet also)

I'd like to see a collection of continents at the beginning and if they want to expand content in the game they can introduce new continents and expand the map, rather than blow up the existing or going underground.. If Indar is any indication (i.e new cont), they're probably going to change up the map layout a bit for launch.

Hopefully they got rid of Hossin for Indar.

I wonder if there will still be "home continents"?

I liked Esamir.

Considering there is no sanctuary I doubt we will see home continents this time around.

Although with the resource system there may be some continents more rich in resources for one empire thus making it a must have and almost "Home" continent.

We need some kind of home continent that makes a side not want to lose it out of pride, it adds to the feeling of the game

Man, the only continent I really want back is Cyssor, preferably with a nice little setup of 3 bases right next to each other setup in a triangle, a river and a bridge would be nice, too.

I hope Forseral makes a return, lots of good memories from fighting there in the old TR glory days, hell the TR home conts were awesome, Ishundar had sweet music that really brought it to life and had all these stunning rock formations, vistas, cliffs and open saharas for large tank battles. Forseral was a temperate paradise which had a European aesthetic with forests, rolling hills and big open fields.

Maybe Cery wasn't too great, but it had its northern area with the epic long bridge of doom with the 300 metre deep cavern that would slowly collect suiciders and vehicle wrecks over the period of the battle.

Ceryshen...just NO. Unless you could fly, just no... GOD NO. Great map in concept for the bottlenecks, but getting anywhere on that stupid continent was a test of Gandhi's patience, like driving around Pittsburgh. Searhus was better in that getting anywhere on the ground was not too bad.

Just please bring back Amerish and Oshur... Those were my favs.

i want them all back, and old oshur not the new one. but forseal and amerish are where i spent the most time, ish a close second.

but while Cery was certianly the most tedious map, i want it back, in all of its complicated glory. it added a type of gameplay that the other maps didnt have. priorites and tactics exsisted there no other cont had, and i really really enjoy that.

I doubt we'd see anything familiar from the old continents except names and the overall theme, due to the resources and the "fights happen everywhere" and "every square meter can be capture", which both require heavy revamps to the maps.

Home continents were the shittiest thing the lattice ever did to PS1.

Yea some lend themselves better to more distributed combat than others. Cyssor and searhus being easier while Cery is near impossible.

At the same time, inaccessibility is a game play element that could be quite interesting.
Infantry combat above the flight ceiling, but inaccessible to tanks!

They also said they've added quite a bit more of a vertical element. So perhaps Cary's canyons will have people along the sides.

I claim Hossin, and Solsar in the name of the New Conglomerate nation.

Who knows what the map will be like. I suspect it may be 3D though. It is in the trailer, and it just makes sense to do. Knowing elevation and specific details is key to strategy.

I wonder if some of the original conts wont make it in the game. Indar seems to be a hilly desert. Which put's it in competition with Solsar.

Indeed, it never seemed to matter where I was or where I was going, so long as I was driving an Enforcer or a Harasser, I always found the hole.
