So you get a letter for free tickets to your favorite college football rivalry game, the biggest. You go to redeem them and meet a sherrif, who tells you they have a warrant for your arrest and put the cuffs on. Plus, the local news is there the whole time.
Isn't there some law that prevents this? I understand baiting criminals, but doing it in such a demoralizing and fabricated way, and put it on the news? Come on.

Fuck 'em. I have little sympathy for people not taking care of their kids. I call this a combination of clever police work and stupid deadbeats. I think the City of Oakland did something similar to this, except they offered money instead of tickets. Also, let this be a lesson to all of us...if something sounds too good to be true, it is.

It's not entrapment, as they're wanted for not paying child support, not attempting to get free tickets.
There's nothing illegal about this AFAIK. It's probably not cruel and unusual punishment, as it's not punishment, either. And public shame, of certain varieties, hasn't typically fallen under that, it's like a newspaper's blotter.

Dito, but child support isn't a great system. I once heard of a guy who had about a dozen kids through several moms, and he worked at McDonalds. His state prevented him from losing more then half is pay for child support, so each mom got like less then $10.

Well, what the fuck is he going to do? You can't take money that isn't there.

Work prison. Take all his god damn money. People need to learn to keep their friggen legs closed, and their pants zipped. TWELVE KIDS!? to different wives? Incarcerated, forced to work, and "clipped".
Also: I must LOL at the tiny, attractive blonde girl who runs up with pink handcuffs. She can cuff me any time.

In the United States, people are free to do what they want, within reason. There's no law that says he can't have twelve kids. It's also not completely his fault - it takes two to make a baby, and I can almost guarantee you that every bitch he slept with knew he had other kids. You can't send a guy to prison for having kids. You can't castrate him, spay him, neuter him, give him a vasectomy, etc. We don't force-sterilize. That was tried before, because a mentally-retarded lady got pregnant back in like 1903 and they did that to her. The whole country went ape-shit.
Also sending him to prison essentially means he can't work for a living. You don't get paid in prison. Send him to jail and you basically condemn his kids to a life without what little money they get in child support. If the motherfucker works at McDonalds, hey at least he's got a damned job. You can't very well go out and give him a better job because he may not be qualified for it. What I would say, however, is that he should be working 40 hours at that job, 40 hours at another job, and on his off-days he'd better be working part-time or visiting his kids and being a father.
