Hey all, I've been looking at getting a new pc for about £1000 give or take. I no longer have a Mac! :).
Ive built a pc on overclockers.co.uk but I'd like the intake of all you other geeks hehe;
Subtotal £829.06
£994.87 inc VAT
Specification
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz Quad Core Processor
Stage 2: Overclock of CPU - 15% Overclock (Processor speed x1.15)
Corsair Hydro H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Asus P67 Sabertooth Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB 1600MHz CAS9 Memory Kit
OcUK GeForce GTX 560 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Seagate Barracude 1TB SATA 6Gb/s HDD
OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone AMP
OCZ ZS Series 750W PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Fully Cable Managed
My question is would I be able to run quake 2 ( apparently the most demanding game atm ) on full graphics?
Cheers all, look forward to your geeky comments :D
Did you buy all these parts yet? If not there a few I would change out.
I went to their site I came up with a build just under £900. Are they assembling/overclocking this for you? This is probably where some of the premium came from on top of more expensive items like that Sabertooth that isn't worthwhile (ASUS P67 line has had lots of issues so stay away). Click the picture for the parts I think you should get if you haven't already. If you are really interested in getting feedback please answer these questions from the sticky (http://www.planetside-universe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37183).

Shouldn't he get a 64 bit OS if he's getting 8gb of RAM?

1. What is your budget and does that include shipping/taxes? Prefer under or at £1000 please.
2. Where do you live? East of England, Bury St Edmunds.
3. What do you need this computer to do (like gaming, Photoshop, and so on)? Gaming at High end Graphics.
4. What parts will you need for the computer? Please list what parts specifically. Everything apart from Monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. Are you reusing any parts for this computer? If so please say what parts. Above.
6. What kind of monitor/resolution do you have or want to get to use for the computer? http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/lg-m2250d-21-full-hd-led-tv-10179663-pdt.html (i have this)
7. Do you have a legit OS? If so what OS and is it 32-bit or 64-bit? perf 64-bit.
8. What are you looking for the motherboard to have feature wise? USB 3.0, is all i really need
9. Any plans to overclock the CPU or GPU? Yh i'd like to over clock but if the CPU is good enough as it is then i won't bother till a later date.
10. What time kind of time frame are you planning on ordering these parts? I'd perfer to get in january 2012.

Yeah. I was in a rush earlier is all.

I'd perfer to get in january 2012.
If you are waiting that long please come back within 1 or 2 weeks of wanting to order your parts. Anything we come up with for you now will not be recommended. AMD and Nvidia are likely to have all new cards by then. AMD is releasing a new CPU line 2 weeks from now and Intel is bringing out SB-E. Just way too much stuff coming to even think about what you could possibly want by then is all.
